You have to remove the 2 tabs inside the receiver. Go to the first page in this thread and you see it.

No worries.

I argued with people to no end about this and some claimed that the tabs don't have to be removed. The easy way to find out is to remove the original magazine well and try putting any AR magazine in there. Any school kid can then see that the tabs are in the way. Not meant for you so you know. Have fun.
 
hk gurus - i'm looking at some of the restricted-length barrels available in the US. looks like a simple swap - barrel nut to 45 'lbs. anything to be aware of - barrel wrenches hard to find, import issues from 'merica, etc.?

I received the rifle with the magazine well already in so I assumed that it was good to go. Apparently the previous owner bought it with the well installed too. Started to make sense when I took the rifle apart and also found a safety spring all mangled up in the wrong spot.
 
Hey guys, I am about to pull the pin and order my sl8. I am still on the fence - should I get the long rail or short rail? Any personal feelings about that- please share!
Also, for those of you who actually own this gun- any regrets buying this one over let’s say Tavor or any other rifle which is non restricted? How was it with jams or any technical problems, issues? Please share!
 
I have the short rail.
Rifle is bomb proof for me so far. Best money I’ve ever spent.

I went to tavor first but didn’t like the bullpup set up.

Issues are getting parts if and when you need any. I lost the knurled bolt, can’t get one anywhere
So I threw a nylock nut on it.
Converted the magwell, pretty easy to do.
Just got the Hera conversion fitted, rifle is so much better.

Accuracy is crazy crazy good, I’m throwing 55g and 62g down mine

It’s my go to yote rifle
 
If you plan on using the irons I'd opt for long rail to take advantage of the longer sight radius.

If you intend on exclusively using an optic then it doesn't matter which you choose.

No matter what, as your rifle is right now, only magazines for SL8-4 and SL8-5 will fit, NOT G36 and NOT SL8-1 or -6.
