I have been serioulsy contemplating acquiring a SL8 , and while doing my homework I came up with some dead ends that I would like to figure out.

Please feel free to enlighten or correct me on the following:

SL8-1 = HK import model to USA, grey/white, only accepts single stack mags.

SL8-2 = prototype only?

SL8-3 = prototype only?

SL8-4 = European/CDN version, accepts double stack mags, short rail no sights.

SL8-5 = Same as SL8-4, but with long rail and iron sights.

SL8-6 = Newer import model to USA? Looks alot like SL8-4/5, single stack mags only??

I know there is a USA company that makes conversion kit to put a folding stock (G36) type on the SL8-1, would such fit the SL8-4/5 or are there other unseen differences within the rifle that prevents this on different models? Any SL8-4/5 owners in Canada with a folding stock?

Can you change out the barrel on a SL8-4/5 to something shorter but with a flash hider that still comes out to same overall barrell length?

Thanks!

You may want to visit HK PRO lots of SL8/G36 conversions. Wolverine will be able to give ya the info on the imported models. There is a guy on HK PRO that make a block for the rear of the receiver so that you don't have to cut if for the G36 stock and get the correct LOP. The barrel needs a "trunnion" to replace it, best done by a HK armorer with the right tools. I'm speaking from memory on the trunnion so I may be incorrect. Arwen Ace is a HK armorer and can let ya know the correct procedure for a barrel exchange. He's on the board.
