HK SL8 Non-Restricted .223 Rifles IN STOCK

Still one of the best rifle on the market for the value, change the magwell for one taking AR mag, half a dozens of LAR-15 mags... I am looking to squeeze up one in my rifle budget since restricteds is taking the big part of the expenses to become my next marmott hunting rifle...
One of my eldest grandaughter pretty put her name pemanently on my Benelli MR-1.... So grampa have to replace it... JP.

I may be wrong but wasn't .223 designed for use in a 20 inch barrel? And work best out of a 20 inch barrel? Again, I may be wrong but 20 seems like a good default setting. Does the short rail have iron sights? Can't tell

You are definitely right.
The short rail doesn't have any iron sight.

I bought the SL8-4 with the short rail and later bought the long rail with "iron" sights for about $130. Bought the bipod and sling. I regret getting the bag as it is better suited to carrying a guitar. I really like this rifle it shoots very well and cleaning is much easier than an AR15 as it has a piston. This is a really cool varmint/coyote gun. It seems to maintain a zero between rail changes and gives you the ability to shoot both the same day with a quick change using supplied tool. It's my son's favorite rifle. And almost always goes with us. I can live with the thumb hole stock but I wish it had a better graduated sight. Currently it is only 100/300m which I suppose is adequate for most people.

poopy 5 round expensive mags. yea. sounds like fun...
wolverine sells spear 5/30 mags that are drop in. Magpul G36 mags work with a slight modification to the mag. The factory G36 mags will work as well but require a small modification to the rifle because there is not enough material like in the magpul mags.

Switching to Stanag type mags on this rifle would be a mistake IMO since the G36 uses arguably the most reliable mag design out there.

I have a Hera Arms BCK Gen 2 on my SL8. For those who don't like the thumbhole stock, the HA and other conversions out there put a pistol grip and the ability to put AR and ACR butt stocks on. Yea a little more money but you can do the conversion later after the rifle purchase. I do 1 MOA with my handloads.

I've got a g36 conversion kit on EE if anyone is looking

I would have bought one a long time ago if it came stock with a shorter barrel and a muzzle brake or flash hider. I know this will come up...no, I don 't want to machine it down and thread it.

I know its probably gonna be awhile but I'll wait to see if the HK 243 or 293 become legal in Canada....probably gonna cost a small fortune to get one. oh well

I too will buy an HK 243. It should not be too expensive. HK has quoted $1900 to $2100 USD for the 293. So after the usual Canadian importer/dealer effects that should be $2900 to $3100 Canadian. Probably wont see these here for a couple years yet.
