hey there

i have a 40 cal HK USP. shooting factory loads out of it.
its seems that at about 10 yards its hitting 4-5 inches low of bulleye.

my HK has fixed sights. should i just suck it up and get used to it? or is there a way to tinker with the fixed sights to correct this?

let me know.

thanks
Jon

low at all ranges? are you anticapting recoil and bobbing the muzzle down abit before firing? If its a new USP it comes with factory target to show accuracy.

Most USP's with fixed sights are set up low from the factory. You basically cover what you want to hit. Re: defensive set-up.

My 1st and 3rd pistol shot that way. The only one that shot near high enough was my Custom Sport.

I have a USP 9mm and it use to do the same thing, then one day I cleaned it really good and reassembled it and now its perfect again. I also find that the gripping of the pistol has alot to do with this problem. Dry firing slowly at the range you will find that it might be an operator induced flinch where you might be pointing slghtly down just before firing and not knowing it. Some thing I noticed on myself when I had this problem.

USP sights are set up to shoot point of aim (unlike most American guns, which are set up for 6 o'clock). Cover the target with the front sight and make sure you are not moving the gun down in anticipation of recoil.

Wich is the right way to aim the pistol?
