Anyone have any advice as to how to pin mags for the HK USC? I've got some 10 rounders that I need to turn into 5 rounders. I've seen it done with a rivet, but the margin for error is slim, and the mags are bloody pricey. All advice welcome.

Thanks!

Can you disassemble them and cut a wooden dowel to the proper length so that it won't let the follower go down far enough to hold 6 rounds?

Make sure you pin to about 5.5 rounds.

Not to scare anyone, but that RCMP sanctioned pinning ? just add a dowel ? that is far easier then I thought pinning a mag would be.

I think he means - if you meet the boys in blue, will they accept that your mag is pinned if all you have is the plug [dowell] in the bottom of the mag? IE - it is not permanently pinned.

Most will probably just grab some of your ammo and see if they can put more than 5 rounds in the mag or not. But heres the official wording.

(5) For the purposes of subsection (4), altering or re-manufacturing a cartridge magazine includes

(a) the indentation of its casing by forging, casting, swaging or impressing;

(b) in the case of a cartridge magazine with a steel or aluminum casing, the insertions and attachment of a plug, sleeve, rod, pin, flange or similar device, made of steel or aluminum, as the case may be, or of a similar material, to the inner surface of its casing by welding, brazing or any other similar method; or

(c) in the case of a cartridge magazine with a casing made of a material other than steel or aluminum, the attachment of a plug, sleeve, rod, pin, flange or similar device, made of steel or of a material similar to that of the magazing casing, to the inner surface of its casing by welding, brazing or any other similar method or by applying a permanent adhesive substance, such as a cement or an epoxy or other glue.
