HK USC to UMP conversion

Well I did it, ordered me a USC...:p (I really hate this place, I truly do!!! CPC for majority!)

HK USC mags have gotten crazy expensive >$150 each

May the mods begin...... when it gets here!

$150 is for a high quality metal 5/20 HERA mag.

$70 will get you a standard plastic HK 5/10 mag.

I hope yours gets here quicker than mine did... over a 6 month wait for mine from order to doorstep as I recall... and a long 6 month they were. Some guys got theirs within a week of ordering though so it would seem it depends heavily on whether one is in stock or not.

Ordered USC from Wolverine, had 1 in stock (a black one).
The mags @ >150$ were HK 5/20 USC mags, new prices from HK, I was told that the SL8 mags doubled in price also!!! I bought the last 4 mags from older stock @ 69$

Spear mags, all the way...

5/20? You mean 5/10's? :p

HK has never offered a 20 rounder of any sort, just the 25's for the UMP and 10's for the USC, although HERA makes the Aluminum 20 round single stack ones for the USC (pinned to 5) and the price would be a lot more in line with the HERA mags.

But if they jumped up THAT high, holy jeeze! When I got my 2 extra spare USC mags, they were 65 each.....

You are probably right about them being 5/10 round mags, it's the HK USC mags that Wolverine sells, I thought they were 20 round bodies.

But they are the mags that were 69$ and now mare than double that, I was told it's the new HK pricing for 2011 inventory.

Got the USC, nice gun...
One observation, the grip is pretty bulky compared to the UMP.
The barrel would look pretty nice with a fake suppressor around it, it's not that huge in real life.
That being said, DLASk 8.5" barrel and rails in-bound...... soon I hope!
Rails needed to mount the Aimpoint T1 I bought, I like that little bugger.
HERA folder will likely follow, eventually..
And got me 1,000 rounds of ammo to play.

Thanks Wolverine for the USC, mags & T1.
Thanks CRAFM for the ammo.
Thank you VISA for providing the immediate funds required... ouch!

I think I already wrote this "I hate you guys.... in a loving kind of way!"

Anyone find a good barrel shroud for the dlask threaded NR barrel

I have my Dlask barrel on order right now...

Have been looking around (albeit not very hard) for a barrel shroud too for it. I think MFI makes slip-on barrel shrouds, and since they're made of thin aluminum sheet metal, they're nice and light.... BUT, I don't think MFI ships up here anymore. I have a fake can for my HK Mark23, and it's very well made!

I'm gonna get prototype handguard made from Shapeways that'll extend about 4-5 inches past the end of the factory handguard, so with a shroud of some sort it could actually look not half bad. I've had 1 handguard made from them before (an MP5-SD style handguard, which actually looks really cool) and is pretty beefy, so I'll see how that works out!

I want mine in 9mm :(

If you're lucky you'll spend 1500 - 2 grand on top of whatever else you need for the conversion...

The 9mm bolts are at least 700 bucks stateside (when you can get them) and a new barrel (assuming you get one Canadian made) probably a good 5-600, then any import duties for the bolt and mags...

There are lots of other good 9mm PCC's, the big benefit of the USC/UMP's is that it's in .45.

As much as I like the UMP, I'd have to agree with you that there are better options for a 9mm than the UMP. The UMP is bigger by comparison than most subs. Feels almost twice the size of my TMP. About twice the price when a UMP-9 is finished as well... and at the end there are much better options out there.

Now try to run .40 or .45 down a Scorpion or TMP or any of the other 9mm options that are availible and see what happens.

I'd love to be able to run 10mm down my .40 barrel though:D

A 10mm is one of the only calibers I'd "upgrade" my UMP conversion to, that's one sweet cartridge!

Or maybe even a .40 Super (.45 Super case necked down to .40 cal) :D

Same bolt and mags, just a different barrel.

talk to a member named Boobytrapped. he is trying to trade his 9mm UMP parts for 45acp parts. I was going to do a 9mm conversion, but I figured I could buy about 2000 rounds of 45 before I started saving any money shooting 9mm. Get a JR carbine in 9mm. Awesome gun. Dress her up to look like an MR223 or MR308.
