Have looked all over the place and can't seem to find any information on these pertaining to Canada. I didn't see them mentioned on "list", are these allowed?

USC ~$2500
UMP ~$7500

I'm being fairly granular in estimates, because you are dealing with some pretty big prices.

The UMP is rare enough that you either wait for someone with a UMP to list here on the EE, or advertise that you want someone else's that they DON'T currently intend to sell, driving the premium price even higher.

I owned mine. I fired mine. I sold mine to another collector that no doubt has occupied himself in following the exact same path.

You might be thinking 'is it worth it?'.

Well:
  • I paid big money for it
  • It was awesome as #### for a .45 SMG
  • It is a .45 SMG, not a 5.56 SMG
  • Good luck getting an ass-load of mags to properly outfit it
  • Good luck getting it serviced if the planets align and it breaks
  • you will get back every single penny you spent for it. Maybe more.

If I was independently wealthy, this would all be moot as i would keep every firearm I ever owned. Sucks to be a working class man.

I have a non res USC (longer barrel installed) I might be able to part with someday if I get the right offer for it. ;) As for getting a new USC I have had an order in with Wolverine since late January and I was told I won't see my new USC till November at the earliest now. :(

dang, those things are pricey:eek:. Why are they so expensive here? ive seen them(usc) in the states round the 1000-1500. just not very many of them here or something?

Because there are next to none here, and there will never be any more.

So you have one or you don't.

FWIW, there aren't that many in the US either. As I understand $1500 is LE pricing. I posted pics of mine on Sigforum (A US forum), and the responses ranged from "I hate you a bit" to "God I want one of those so badly" Some of these guys already own MP5s.

Just not that common a gun.

But if you are a guy who buys guns instead of quads, as big price units go its not that bad.

If you want to make a USC into a clone, it has been done and done well by a few guys in Canada at about $3500.00. I compared one side by side with my genuine gun about 2 years ago. The results were quite nice.

FWIW, the plus side is that they tend to be owned by some of the more recognizable and (arguably) trustworthy CGN members. The UMP, the G36, the little H&K machine pistol dealie...

So when you buy one, your risk of getting screwed in the deal is close to nill. But your bum might still hurt a bit from the price.

Welcome to the capitalist free market dude. Supply and demand.

Consider:
In the last 2 year's recession market my house depreciated, my cars depreciated and my SxS Rhino depreciated. But my guns appreciated despite using them.

That is at least equal to, if not better than capital retention.

One of these days might get one. Guy in the states i know has one of each, allthough his UMP doesen't have a barrel. i believe somebody threw it in with a trade. Having personally held one of these i would say the only thing that detracts from them to me is the overall plastic feeling in them, i'm more of a wood and steel kinda guy.

You need to fire it to get a true sense of its capability.

Plastic, yes.

But definitely has the mass to make the .45 negligible, is capable of withering speeds with follow up shots and has very fast pointing characteristics.

Sucks that it is really limited to within 100 yards, but there you go.

Its an awesome carbine, unfortunately now the 8" barrels are rare as a spotted ape.

I am doing my own mods to make a UMP carbine, I made my own Aluminum stock block to use a modified factory USC stock, but with a Magpul CTR & AR15 buffer tube.

I am also trying to get some of the HERA 5/20 Aluminum mags to see how well they work... I have a couple leads from HERA's last email to me.

It IS an incredibly fun carbine, no doubt about it.

The big problem is, that HK doesn't make them that often, due to the lack of interest in their primary sales market (USA). Just not enough interest in Canada to warrant another production run :(

good one. but someday i'll strike it rich and call Pat911 about the MP7

Super plasticy and cheapo for an extremely expensive SMG. Did not impress me in the slightest.

the plastic they use is incredibly strong, and they are steel re-enforced too.

You can see there is a steel plate at the end of the USC receiver, plus the trunion block which is massive (the serial number is engraved on the trunion block)

any place you see teeny little 1mm holes, there is going to be a steel insert in that area.

The front hooks on the lower, as well as the front of the mag well has a steel plate there too.

here is a UMP Demo with clear plastic rather than the black plastic:

I was a little surprised at how my USC felt originally too (compared to my Mark23) however I can tell you it is a very strong design. :D
