Strongly considering the purchase of one of these. I'm also interested in what's involved in the USC to UMP conversion. (yeah I did a search for for it here....useless)

Realistically what are we talking $$$ and parts availability wise to do the conversion? Some *real* feedback would be appreciated so lets please not turn it into a HK bashing or my sub-gun is better than your sub-gun thread.

Regards,

I just posted about HK USCs - there is a lot of info on this site but its a pita to find it..search USC all the way back to the beginning

It depends on how "factory" a USC/UMP conversion you want.

You need the UMP lower (then the work to move the USC trigger parts, open up the upper receiver mag area), cut the vent holes in the upper, get a USC/UMP stock block, then the folding stock, then if you want an 8" barrel thats more money (Bits of Pieces charges 450-500 for an 18.5" barrel, so expect somewhere close to that for an 8" barrel).... Then UMP mags.

Just keep in mind, with a lot of the stuff I've done getting really good deals on, Im still almost at 4 grand with my USC/UMP conversion, with NO UMP mags for it yet (although that is including my Aimpoint Micro in the price)

Now is it worth it?

My USC is definitely one of the coolest guns I've EVER shot, not to mention owned! :D

You need to be a big fan of the cartridge and design for it to be worth it, but they are REALLY awesome guns.

Well in my opinion having built one source out the parts. It was a pain in the a@s
finding and machinist to machine the holes was hard knowing if he f&^kup its all over.
But in the end was it worth it you bet it is . It draws a crowd every time I shoot it at the range.
