Hi Im looking for some good advice with regards to purchasing a hk usp 45. I know its a old model but this pistol speaks to me in many ways some of you understand, and I know their is a modern version the hk45. My main concern is why hardly any retailers carry HK pistols anymore, as far as I know going from the hk website they still make the usp 45 v1 is there anything I should know before I buy like pro or cons I know abut the proprietary rail and dont care. Any and all advice is much appreciated thanks.

Hardly any retailers carry HK? Pretty much every one that I go to stocks HK.

Also, call me old fashioned but I love the USP’s over all the newer modern HK pistols.

I have the USP9 but the grip is either you love it or hate it. I have smallish hands and I find I can't reach the mag release paddles without changing my grip. It's annoying at best. However, like you, it's a pistol that speaks to me and I still love it even though it's not my favorite.

The HK USP 45 is an out standing pistol and should serve you well. The issues I came across in my HK days were trying to find a decent holster, finding mags that were not super over priced. Finding parts can also be bothersome, I however was never in a situation where I need new/ spare parts. I hope to re join the club again soon, perhaps with a HK45c.
And of course, pics and a range report once it lands.

Can't say anything bad about them, unless you've got small hands...

Finding spare parts, mags that aren't $100/ea, and a holster that will have to be custom made in the US - Red Hill Tactical makes good sh**. Is there a shooting budget? 45 is almost double the price of 9mm. If you're going to be a casual shooter, 500 rounds a year than by all means.

What is this 1999? Plenty of big holster makers for usp at this day and age.

But yes to op, Hk ain't cheap to buy or accessorize, and mags are big dollars. The handgun itself is dead nuts reliable.

If you’re a right handed shooter, try using your right middle finger to pop the mag release. Suddenly it’ll become a non issue.

Thx to all for the reply, I already have five handguns some in 45 I cant believe I did not get a usp by now. Anyone know a retailer who has these in stock?

I wanted a USP9 and I shot the 45 a long time ago. Went to a gun range and shot the USP9, P226 and a 92fs. Ended up buying a 226 because it fit perfect. USP9 grip was just too big and didnt fit right and the Beretta controls didnt fit either.

If you're stuck on it, grab one. They shoot very very nice. Cant go wrong with one.

Watch the EE, they pop up. There's a few stores that carry them but are all out of stock.
If you can find it, get one with the match trigger too.

Yea I was looking at that model with the lem trigger but they are nowhere to be found.

Most shops list the Tactical model, but if you can only find the standard, talk to Wolverine Supplies. They were able to order in a Match trigger kit that I then just installed into my own.

*disclaimer* it took about a year for the trigger kits to show up...
