HK416/MR223 Info Thread

I am on the verge of buying one of those 11 inch H&K ( when i am back from NH) to add to the numbers of restricteds in support against a BAN.

I was looking at my LGS in Concord NH and they dont sell that model in the states

We get the European versions which also are the most up to date with full ambi controls.

They sold out within a day or two. I had the chance but decided not to. Sort of regretting it but still I think I made the right decision at this time.

I dont believe in any concrete ban, this as become the world of the fear mongering, many are specialist troll of negativity. One dealer still have 13 in stock.

Then you are engaging in wishful thinking. The same way I had people telling me after the last election that I was wrong when I stated our dollar would go to crap, interest rates would go up and they would come after our guns. The first two were based on this always happening with a Liberal government. The last was written right on their website. If you read between the lines you knew they didn’t differentiate between our guns and criminals. This is abundantly clear these days. Then there are Blair’s BS town halls which have made it clear what the decision is while pretending to consult us before screwing us over. Add in the media payoff followed by the confirmation with the Latest scandal which confirmed Liberals engage in bought/payed for opinion pieces. Now look at the flood of these anti firearm opinion pieces prepping for the roll out of a handgun and semi auto ban. What other logical solution can you come to other than they plan on going through with this if they win the next election. They might even try before as they were advised that gun control is an untapped voting issue. Again how can you come to any other conclusion?

It’s not fear mongering. It’s a simple conclusion based on all of their actions. There really is no other conclusion. Just hope they are too tied up in scandal and lose the election.

Almost bought one of those MR223 A3 11” RA carbines that just came in. So tempting, I had my credit card out a few times. I really do want one.

Unfortunately at $3200-3400 plus tax along with upgrading the handguard it was a tough sell. Plus with the Liberals “studying” a handgun/semi auto ban ie prohibited it was just too much to risk. The recent opinion pieces fit right in with the latest scandal showing the decision was made a long time ago and they are just prepping the public with paid for media. I really have zero faith in the Canadian voters to not vote them in again. We even have some deranged on here talking about splitting the vote with Bernier and allowing another Liberal government. If that happens then we will be discussing bolt action rifles and single/double shotguns maybe pump action. If they were under 2K then I would have taken the risk. Just too rich and risky at this point in time. Which kills me because I do want one.

At this time I guess I’m living vicariously. Hopefully enough firearm owners see the light and vote Conservative along with the general public finally seeing the Liberals as the scum bags they are!

I understand your position and rational, however it seems that lately I've come to the realization that as a gun owner, period, the possibility of a ban/prohibition lurks around the corner at every change of GOV. I suppose if I could offer any personal experience, I see the "black rifles" much like the 12.6 class , while I didn't realize it at the time and I wasn't preparing for it, it just happened and I'm glad I was able to get the license, that very well may be the case if the unthinkable happens with "black rifles". For now and for me , I guess all we can do is "live in the moment" the "anti gun" rhetoric is not going away anytime soon, and much like everything else these days the facts don't seem to convince the people who have an agenda, just my $.02. Good Luck next time bud.

Fair enough Mildot! All good points. This has been tough for me. I have a MR308A3-28 that I am very fond of. I would like the 223 version. I think I found the dealer Caramel was talking about. So I will continue to think it over.

This is your opinion and nothing i can do about it.

I believe that if they scare peoples enough to the point they wont buy firearms anymore, they won a round without doing nothing.

My contact the last 18 months ( they are ready to die to protect their rights) with Americans made me realize that it is OK to fight for my stuff and that i wont be bullied around.

Court class actions and peacefull non compliance is our tools ( surprised at what is happening in Québec, i am not, the bucket is full ).

To each is own, one thing is sure, i am not stopping buying restricteds and a couple of my close friends are doing the same.

I always been a peacefull family man, i am now a mad:mad: peacefull family man. :)

Well you could always get an upper? I saw an ad for one, sans the hand guard, which is easy to source. The real advantage for the 416/MR platform is IMO the upper, and it's a modest investment. No license required, LOL, good luck.

More a predictable outcome based on in your face evidence rather than an “opinion”. Any idiot can have an opinion and often it’s based on emotion or bias. When the evidence is overwhelmingly in your face it’s far more than just an opinion. It’s more a predictable outcome.

I will be voting Conservative. Any other vote is a vote for us to lose our handguns and semi autos.

I have more than my fair share of handguns and semi autos. I’m doing my part.

I like the ambi lower. Decent suggestion but it’s an all or nothing proposition for me.

When they told me i had at the most 3% chance of surviving my cancer, my md told me it was a predictable outcome based on évidences and an average responce to treatment. I did beat that snit even if all évidences and odds were againt me. That was with my life why would i not chance it with firearms they are a lot less important. Just saying.:)

I made my point i will leave it at that. Have a nice day.

^^^^ 1 person in 14+ million often win the 6/49 lottery. That’s 14+ million that “aren’t winners”. I wouldn’t buy lottery tickets as a retirement plan. Fortunately I think we have a shot at the Conservatives getting a majority of the Liberals keep screwing up the way the are. If the Liberals win then not getting a handgun and semi ban will be winning the lottery.

I’m glad to hear you beat the odds. I do hope for the best for you and of course also for us as firearm owners.

I will vote for anyone that have a chance to beat the liberal in my riding, i wish them out as bad as you do, but i fear that Scheer with is close personality just make us undergunned.

Did the military contracts take all the 14.5s or something? Seems like everything that came in is 11.

I thought about getting that 11 inch upper so I can swap between 14.5 and 11, but the 11 still wont be light. Im more leaning towards having a 14.5 MR223 and a 11 PWS MK111Mod2

BullsEyeLondon has the 14.5” in stock along with the 11”. RAL8000 and black. I just bought an 11” in black.

I will actually upgrade all my AR15 lowers with HK ambi selectors if they are available for purchase. HK did a bang on job there, the selector levers are of just the right length.

I never understand the typical US ambi selector with a stubby right side lever, which is almost impossible to use efficiently. May as well not putting it in. The HK lever is shorter than the left side of a typical AR, but longer than the stubby right side.

I like the HK ambi controls on the A3 lowers we get. I consider KAC to be the standard and the HK ones are in my opinion just as good. I also like that you can use the safety without having to charge the carbine first. While I prefer the two stage trigger on the KAC or the Gieselle, I do like the ability to always use the safety. Lots of small things they did that I like with the lowers to make me want the entire rifle rather than just an upper.

Couldn’t agree more.
