HK416/MR223 Info Thread

A lot of inventory for the next 2-3 years...?

They said 2020 at ns. So 1 year maybe 2 if it gets pushed to 2021. Let's not get excessively dramatic here now.

While they are high quality carbines at actually not a shocking price, they aren't necessarily volume sellers.

They might dry out by the time the next shipment shows up but I don't see them flying off the shelf.

Are you guys changing the muzzle devices? If so, to what?

I've been finding it impossible to source M15x1 Surefire warcomps.
So right now I'm thinking of getting the M15X1 to 5/8-24 adaptor and then installing a 7.62 Warcomp on my MR308 and 7.62 Precision Armament EFAB on my MR223.

I'm wondering, does the adaptor affect recoil or accuracy in anyway? Also, does putting a 7.62 brake on a 5.56 rifle decrease the brake's recoil reduction to the point of might as well as not having it?

7.62 brakes will be less effective. But they will still help.

correct, commercial.
They try to avoid all similarity with military version, hence my muzzle device problem

Contact brownells see if they can source you a warcomp. If you do ask can you do me a favour and ask if the closed tine warcomp comes in 15x1 as well? I put in an order through bullseye for a 11 myself so the warcomp is my new pick for muzzle devices

Does anyone know of a dealer in Canada which has HKey rail sections in stock? None of the places I have checked with have any and I'd prefer not to have to wait a year for NS to bring in a special order

You have just discovered the main problem with the new, high-speed HKey system - no one has any accessories for sale.....

I’ll reach out on monday and get back to you.

Actually brownells states on their website for the warcomp:
"Foreign Shipping
This item cannot be shipped out of the United States.

Foreign Sales
This item cannot be sold out of the United States."

I asked AZ about the comp and they were the one that put that on their website for me. I can tell you they had hard time sourcing one; AZ stated they couldn't get one at first. It might be pricey but I think it was worth it.

I don't think Surefire makes CT warcomp by 15x1, if they did I would have chosen that over 3 Prongs.

I get that its rare and that HK owners just have to pay more, but its gonna cost over 400 CAD to get a 30 something percent recoil reduction on a 223 platform.

I’m gonna stick with my SF3P and work on recoil management

If anyone has any contacts in Germany or Europe, please check with them to see if they can get us Waffen Burk stuff. It would be amazing...

For example, asjustable gas blocks for the MR223 and MR308, or how about a match trigger that retains the ability to go safe with hammer up? Yep, Waffen Burk makes those.

Or even easier, why not forego the difficult to source Surefire Warcomp and instead just buy a B+T APC223 Compensator from Wolverine Supplies? They are metric threaded and work just fine with Surefire Blast Wardens and Training Cans.

That comp + Warden is more price than even AZ's warcomp.

The warcomp suppresses flash better than an A2 while also offering recoil reduction. Thats what I'm looking for. Lots of flash reduction and added benefit of reduced recoil.

But to spend over 400 to go from SF3P to warcomp is something that I really cannot justify.

I sent some emails out to inquire about barrel re-thread
