Does anyone know if the dimensions of these two HK pistols are of similar dimensions so that a holster would be interchangeable? One of my main reasons for not yet getting one of these new HK pistols is the availability of holsters out there.

I doubt they would interchange. Heck, the USP .45 and USP 9/40 didn't interchange! I can't say with certainty, but the dimensions are likely slightly different (as they were on the USP line).

You think YOU got it rough - try finding a LEFTY holster for an HK45. :)

Holsters are starting to come on-line for these two guns and many are designed to fit both guns.

I've owned both (at the same time) and the HK45 is noticeable larger than the P30L, but the overall dimensions are similar enough that I can see how an adjustable holster would fit both.

Easy, with or without a light attached?

As far as the OP is concerned, a well made holster should only fit identical firearms, if it will fit other models (other than a calibre change to an identical gun) it's probably going to suck hugely at it's intended task. (close doesn't count in holsters)

That's all good and well if you had a Glock and holsters were common as muck... but it seems quite difficult to find decent holsters for the new HK pistols.

Try Raven Concealment Products, you can have your holster and mag pouches for almost ANY HK in left or right hand and with or without light. These are terrific holsters, I love mine. The only gun that I can think of that they don't list is the Beretta 90-two, but nobody makes holsters for those. Oh yes, and they don't list holsters for "game" guns.

I went onto the raven website and none of the holsters they list are for the HK45. did you have them build a custom holster?

Go to the store front " themalabarfront.com" look under Phantom Holsters in Raven Concealment. They also make a holster for the Mark 23, but it's a custom order.

The reason why I even brought this up in the first place is because as rare as holsters are for the new HK pistols, they are even more rare for the P30L. As the HK45 is more common in the US, I was wondering if the holsters made for them would be suitable for our P30Ls.

my Bladetech DOH with front speedcut for my USP 9 works ok with the P30-L. I heard a Blackhawk non-serpa for the P2000 works for the P30,..but the length ofthe L model may require cutting out the bottom so the length sticks out a bit.

I use BlackHawk SERPA level2 retention holster for P30 with my P30L. Since the only difference between L and regular P30 is the barrel length and the serpa holster is open at the bottom the P30L fits perfectly with barrel extending a bit over the bottom end.

Serpa on itself is amazingly nice thing and it feels like it was designed with L model in mind. I also was surprised with the lack of choices for the P30L, but once I got serpa, I dont think I would want anything else. Looks like this:

As for the HK45 holster for P30L, I'll doubt it would be a good fit. I can't compare both guns now, but I recall 45 is wider and the shape is a bit different, so with kydex or any semi-hard material it wont fit... But I can't say.

I cannot comment on P30.

But P2000 will fit into a M&P 9/40 holster 6004/5 with light. I just got a 6005 for the P2000. What an epic wait ....but it came after 15 weeks. The only reason they have a P2000 6004- probably becasue the US border patrol uses P2000.

I do think you can get a safariland 6004 for P30L - Norwegian police ordered some. So the mold is there. Probably a 15 week wait though.

HK USP 45 and P30L

I've recently got the HK P30L and it fits very nicely into the Galco leather holster that I bought for my HK USP Expert chambered in 40S&W. It's a belt holster for concealed carry, though.

Holsters for HK's

I use the same Galco holster for both my HK's - P30L and USP Expert 40S&W. ALthough the holster was ordered for the Expert, I would say it fits P30L better.

I have both an HK45 and P30L. I have a BladeTech holster for the HK45 that the P30L works fine in. I've used the P30L in the HK45 holster for IPSC and the combination performed well.
