HKG3 & variants Accuracy pictures?????

Without a 12.x license, the closest thing to a G3 that you can purchase is the HK SL7. In outward appearance, the SL7 it is quite different, but internally it uses the same roller-delayed action as the G3 and it sports the same HK drum sights.

The original run of SL7's had 17.7" barrels, which made them restricted in Canada; however, Century imported some with 19" barrels, which makes them non-restricted.

Bringing this thread back rom the dead. Anybody have any 5 round mags for an sl-7?

Tough and reliable, but a pig of a gun. Ergonomics sucked.
A lot of trigger time with both the G3 and FN (and the m14). To be fair more on the FN.
The best answer i ever heard about the clumsiness of the G3 was “the Germans are stubborn.”
Once i heard that, it all made sense.

Here's my 12(3) Converted-Automatic G3A3. It was manufactured by Enfield in England for primarily overseas sales to former British Colonies in Africa. Personally, I find the G3 ergos to be lacking and the recoil to be excessive for .308. An FAL with a properly-tuned Gas Regulator has far softer perceived recoil and superior ergonomics. Still, the G3 was second only to the FN FAL for international (predominantly) Western sales during the latter half of the 20th Century. I have a bunch of accessories (EIS) for mine, including the A4 Retractable Buttstock, Magazines, Mag Charger, Cleaning Kit, etc. etc. The Retractable Buttstock is a horrible device with a Convex Buttplate that is apparently designed to tenderize meat while slipping off your shoulder under recoil! But I digress. Here she is:

Same! But you are being too kind to the retractable buttstock

She is a beauty

I ran one for a few years and found it to be very tough and reliable albeit definitely on the heavy side. Ergonomics were never as good as a FAL but it was more accurate with military ball largely due to the free floated barrel.

They all came with a horrible trigger which thankfully you were able to send it away to William's Trigger Specialities for work.

The collapsible stock was an abortion and felt like putting angle iron against your face.

I thought the sights were quite good and easy to adjust. The sights were a 4 position rotating drum graduated out to 2,3 and 4 hundred meters with one position being the open notch for close range which worked very well.

The scope mounts were very well designed and tough (although a bit heavy) and were very easy to attach and detach without losing zero.

All in all a very robust capable rifle which would have been interesting to see further development on it, had it continued especially in areas of polymer, carbon fiber and lightweight metals.
