Mmattockx, If I can get down Airdrie way this summer I will bring a couple of P7's along for you to try. Very addicting habit once you start.
PM me if you are heading this way and we will work out a range meeting.

I think that's a pretty ridiculous statement to avoid the PSP because it could have been fired 20,000 rounds. Buy a certified refurbished pistol by the HK factory and you're fine! Even the "C" grade pistols have quite beautiful internals. I've never seen a new refurbished in box PSP look like a used pistol with the exception of the external and this was always cosmetic. I have a lot of experience with PSPs and I've seem some ugly ones, freckles, totally purple, dents, dings, long holster scratches and the worst.. rust. However, never one that looked like it saw more than a few hundred rounds and this was with a hard look and squint at the barrel. In regards to the trigger guard. It's plastic and doesn't allow for being a heat shield or for dissipating heat so, engineering wise, it fails. The m13 is uncomfortably thick and completely destroys the concept of the compact design of the P7. I feel the opposite way about the euro release as well. I know a lot of shooters don't have any difficulty adapting to them but they seem cumbersome to me. Although, the concept that your hand is right there which allows for you to drop the mag into your hand instead of the floor is kind of nice.

So what are you complaining about? Don't want to spend $2000 on a pistol? Then don't. No one's holding a gun to your head. It's not that I am cheap, but to me no gun is worth $2000+, I am just not that commited (or obsessed?) to a range only gun. I do have a garage full of motorcycles and understand fully spending whatever it takes to scratch the itch. If that is what it takes, then that is what it takes.
If you can't see how the P7 is much more expensive to manufacture than Glock or CZ-75, you must be pretty new to handguns. P7 is a forged steel, gas-delayed pistol manufactured in Germany to a very high standard of quality. Take one apart and you'll see that it's like a Swiss watch on the inside. In contrast, Glock is a loosely fitted, plastic-fantastic that looks and feels like it was made by Mattel and costs about $75 to produce, while CZ is cast metal gun built by Czechs working for $5/hour. But hey, at least you didn't compare the P7 to Norinco.I just look at a P7 and see no more manufacturing cost than any other semi auto pistol and shake my head at what HK thinks it is worth.
also, the price the "used" "refurb" p7 now is actually too high, the price arms east brought them in for a year or 2 ago, i cant remember just about when , they were going for $8**. something. thats what they are worth, and will always be worth as a used gun, i know the dollar is different now, supply and demand and all that. but to me ,900 max for a p7 psp used, refurb etc. .
The lowest price (if your dealer can get one) on a newly shipped from the HK factory refurbished HKP7PSP is $1,199 (give or take 2%). The better condition, the more you pay.
My buddy paid $1,200 for his nine months ago and at that time I couldn't believe the price for a refurbished "C" grade pistol. This however is the reality of the situation. His at the time of purchasing had a few deep dings, significant holster wear, was a deep purple/plum colour and had freckles of rust. The internals however were excellent. I examined it closely when he purchased it and examined mine and was surprised at the quality of the internals. I've since seen at least a half dozen more P7PSPs fresh from the factory refurbished and all the internals have been quite nice and not just clean but free of any significant looking wear or strain. I pay special attention to the bore and especially examine the frame where it connects to the barrel and haven't seen a single one that looked like it was significantly used. In fact, the only place I've ever heard of seeing a refurbished P7PSP is on the internet where the internals were clean, well greased but clearly strained. The author of the article specifically mentioned paying a substantial discount through a U.S. dealer for a low grade pistol.
