Just ordered a new firing pin on my 9mm Custom sport. Not bad, only $25.
I am actually ordering two, as I committed to ordering it from another source as well. A spare just in case. Must have happened at the last IPSC shoot I went to, as that was the last time ammo was fired out of it. I Dryfired quite a bit with this particular pistol. When I was cleaning the other day, it basically flew out as I cycled it. I was in shock! Luckily, I have another Hk 9mm that I swapped out the firing pin anbd replaced it with; it is not hard to switch at all. 8000 rds of Winchester factory 147gr (144pf) ammo will do that, plus the dryfiring might have not been wise without a snap cap.
It sheared off where the firing pin block comes up thru the slide.

Easier to buy snap caps. The firing pin on the USP is known to break if the gun is dry fired a lot.
 
they (HK) have since replaced the firing pin with another version, which is slightly "beefier". Different part numbers. In Canada, the supplier still has the regular firing pin.
 
yeah its almost verging on Heresy to criticize the HK!!! hmm maybe I should get an extra pin as well, they seem cheap. Ive got maybe 3000 rounds through a USP 9 and I dont shoot IPSC.
 
I actually was surprised how cheap they were, $25. I usually have parts handy. With the Hk, I would get some extra followers. You can actually get 10rd mags for $10-US. Just as cheap to get new mags, as it comes with a new mag spring.
 
hey I was wondering about that now that the ban is over...Do you have a link on any good 10 round factory mags for sale online from the US? any issues on importation? Thanks for any help.
 
I believe only the 9 and .40 share the same firing pin. After 8000rds and about 2000 dryfire it might go, but that depends also on the ammo you are using. MK23 and the .45 are different beasts.
 
You should probably also source a couple sear springs, I break them with fair regularity, and I have yet to replace a firing pin.
 
that's the spring. Never heard of this breaking. It does get bent after considerable use.
