Interesting thread. Last weekend I had two chances at geese. I don't think that I touched any of them. I'm at a loss. In both cases I swung butt-body-beak-BANG (first shot), then lead a body lenght out front (second shot). On the third bunch I took a third shot as well. I use very fast steel shot (1550 fps) in 3.5". My buddy shooting the same load killed three (you'd better believe that I heard about it - lol!), so the load is lethal at that range (approx 30 yards). I'm guessing that the most likely explanation is that, although my lead is OK, I am getting over-excited about these big birds and as a result not swinging well. Next chance I get I'll be concentrating on a good swing and follow through, and starting with a shot just ahead of the beak, then trying for more lead to try to figure this out...
