HMR17 casing splitting open?

ya i can see with .22 ammo at $3 a box ok but i have never seen that but 17 mach 2 at $14 a box i do not want to see it happen.

i have experienced all the Winchester 17 HMR rounds and they do not like my savage 93 17HMR... i did a bit of research and found Winchester ammo is a hair longer in length of bullet witch causes splits in brass, miss fire like a champ and really tight to close bolt action... nothing but crap, i shoot feds and hornys thats all...

I would say 15 out of 50 rounds of winchester super x and supreme either splits and needs to be pried out or it fails to fire. Never happened with Hornady or cci I am going to say that winchester is crap ammo in the .17hmr category.

That's a lot of bad amo there Hometownhero! I had only 2 out of probably 100-150 rounds that failed to eject because of a split case. Had a few FTF's as well and all with the Winchesters.

I mat try some Honandy's and see how they perform.

Hey thanks for letting us know about your findings Mossberg! It seems to me that this is a fairly common problem with Winchester 17 amo, judging by most of the replies I'm getting on this post!
I wonder if anyone from Winchester reads any of these posts? Maybe then they would look at their 17 amo and address these issues. Lol
Yes I know that they are only rim fire amo and not as good as center fire, but at $15+ for 50 rounds, I would have expected better quality. IMO:cool:

Hornady ammo is top notch. Used the 17gr vmax and the 15.5gr ntx both are outstanding. I had 2 ftf in 300 founds and 0(zero!) fte
