Hodgson trail boss with 45lc NEWBIE ques

While respecting the OP's thread, I too would like to know which of the reloading manuals are the best, say the top 3 in order of preference. I can't afford to buy them all at this point, but would like to start with the one you all believe is the 'best'.

1 book to rule them all? Richard Lee 2nd edition... especially for learning. Lee teaches as well as lists loads.

Lee is not a bad manual but wouldn't make my top 3. IMO the Lyman manual is an excellent choice for the first manual and has a better instruction section.

Doesn't the Lyman manual also include subsonic loads? Wholesale Sports had one on the counter a few years ago and I was flipping through it and found subsonic data, I should have bought it but passed since I was already spending more than I went in intending to spend.

Multiple sources of data is mandatory in my opinion. A couple published manuals and links to Hodgdon, Nosler, and Sierra online data is the minimum.

I've also found sites like

http://optimalchargeweight.embarqspace.com
https://www.chuckhawks.com/index2k_reloading.htm
http://www.reloadammo.com
https://www.gunhive.com/load-data/
http://www.accuracy-tech.com/list-of-articles/
There are more but those are the ones I found quickly that have data or instructions

Lots of reading to do, it's all worth it to get it right.

The regular Lyman Reloading Handbook has regular jacket bullet data and also some reduced loads for cast bullets though not necessarily subsonic.
The Lyman Cast Bullet Manual is all about cast bullets and reduced loads.

The online sites you listed are good, also ALLIANT powders has useful load data online.

The Hodgdon website has an excellent instructional section. Youtube is also a very good source of instructional reloading videos.
