Has anyone done this. I’m looking at going in California, but I’m open to other states. I’d like to hunt free range wild hogs, not interested in high fence, canned hunts.

I just looked this week. For around $500 you can do 3 days in Texas. Seems expensive when you're doing pest control for them. I'd rather makes friends with a rancher and just do it for the fun and utility. Make him bacon and eggs for breakfast.

I went in California once. Expensive for what it was, but it was fun. Certainly a lot more action than your typical whitetail type of hunting. Where in California are you looking?

Most likely you're not doing pest control for them. Most places that actually have paid for hunts are buying trapped pigs from neighbors and such. They're running a business, they need there to be pigs on their property.

People who are actually trying to eradicate them don't rely on hunting as it's an ineffective method, they trap them. Plus trapped pigs can be sold to processors, hunted pigs can't (they have to be alive for the processor to take em).

I’m not sure, preferably central California, not interested in visiting big cities, want to hit the rolling hills. Where did you go?

Georgia is the place to go for a serious hog hunt. Overrun with hogs and the farmers want them gone. The hogs take up to 15% of the peanut crop so they are considered pests.

Good news. Night vision and suppressors are fully legal for hunting in GA. Night vision is the way to go…..in rural Georgia.

Our outfitter supplied the AR-10’s kitted with Gen4 night vision and 20 round magazines with Hornady GMX 150’s. We shot 15 and recovered 10. That big dry sow was 398 lbs on the butcher hook next morning.
