Does anyone have any information on hog hunting on crown or private land in Northern BC (Peace Region) or Northern Alberta (Grand Prairie) area?
I'm a licensed ethical hunter who is itchy for some bacon.

Send me a PM if you have any idea's or leads.

Thanks in advance.

I’d be curious to hear if there are any that far north. The only ones I’ve heard of are in the southern part of the province. Grand forks Christina Lake area. But if you find them put them on the ground, no closed season and no bag limits. They are very invasive.

They are not difficult to kill with lung shots. But I've never heard of one being taken more than 100 or so yards away. They live in the thick stuff. All the wild boars I have taken or seen shot were within 100 yards.

Years ago there used to be some in the Lamont area of AB. Haven't heard anything about them for years. They might be gone by now.

I can tell you first hand that these hogs are not an easy kill and all of ours were taken at more than 200 yards with AR-10’s using Hornady GMX 150 gr .308’s. They come out in the fields at night to feed and we were able to find them grouped together routing the crop fields.
They are tough bastards so don’t let anyone convince you otherwise and, once hit , will run for cover and prove difficult to find. Your best chance to put them down is a head/neck shot.

There were a couple of places on the Alberta side a few years ago; one near Spirit River and another over by Debolt. Not sure if either farm is still raising hogs or offering hunts on their high fenced farms. You might get some info through Bartons in Grande Prairie. They used to have contact info. Don't know about now (new owners).
I know the Spirit River farm had their hogs in a quarter section and the hunters sat in tree stands near feeders.

I'd love to go on one of those helicopter hunts in texas where they use suppressed full-auto pistol carbines for feral hogs. That and thermal night hunts. Way cool!
