Hey guys,

I will post everything up tomorrow and if you want will set up a presale on our first batch coming in. I haven't added them to our website yet as we don't have them on the ground. Will probably launch them with a discount for CGN members only for a presale.

Not a super huge margin on them, but trying to keep them priced within reality given the exchange we are paying!

I know everyone recommends manfrotto gear, but are there other options? I was playing with a cameron cf700 today and it seemed pretty sound and a little easier on the picketbook

Tons of other options out there. These will mount to just about any tripod. Manfrotto is popular because its quality gear, and super easy to buy replacement parts for them if you happen to break something. Some info from Shadow Tech:

Q: What is the best tripod/head to use with the Hog Saddle?

A: Manfrotto tripods are primarily recommended due to personal experience with the brand as a Scout Sniper. Gitzo tripods are another good brand to check out also.

Here are four great tripods to check out. I prefer the 055 models because they are more stable while shooting from the standing position but the 190 models are lighter and cheaper. (The center column on all four of these tripods can rotate horizontally. This makes them a good choice if the user plans to mount the HOG Saddle without a tripod head.)

Ball action heads are the most popular for snipers and the strongest in regards to carrying the loaded weight of the rifle. Here are three great options. (The 054 Magnesium ball Head is my favorite and what I personally use. It is also the favored head with many military sniper schools.)

Of all these options I think the 055XPROB tripod with a 054 Magnesium Ball Head is an amazing shooting platform with the HOG Saddle. You can't go wrong with any of the above.

Q: What is the extra threaded hole at the bottom of the base for?

A: The smaller 1/4-20 hole is the most commonly used hole for mounting the Hog Saddle to a tripod. The larger 3/8-16 hole is a backup mounting point for those who use tripods with removable swivel heads. The Hog Saddle is able to mount directly to the base of these tripods, acting as a contingency mounting option.

I didn't feel the need to get the Manfrotto. I got a Slik heavy duty tripod for my Hog. It's not as light as the Man, but it can handle the weight of my 16lb rifle/scope. The head doesn't move when tightened. It's much cheaper as well
 
I've been playing with my cameron cf700 with the rifle just strapped to the ball head and it seems like it will hold up quite nice. And at half the cost of the aluminum manfrotto and lighter.
 
These cost more than the tripod itself! I've been waiting for something like this to become available so I can put my Manfrotto to better use, but not sure if I can justify the price just yet.

The two main tripods used are made by Manfrotto. The MT055XPRO3 and the smaller MT190XPRO3. The larger 055 model is easier to shoot off of. Especially in the standing. (both of these tripods can position to ground level)
Two other Manfrotto models that are discontinued but are easily found on amazon or eBay are the Manfrotto 3021BPro and the 055XPROB. I like these older models better.

The poor man's Manfrotto is a tripod made by SLIK. Model DX700PRO.

If you decide to use a ball head, here are some great options...

Manfrotto 054, 055 or 057 Magnesium Ball head. Pick either the Q2 or Q5 plate options. (Q5 is a better choice)
Sirui K-40x
Oben BC-139 or BC-166
Feisol CB-50D
Induro BHL2S or BHL3S
***my new favorite ball head: Sunwayfoto XB-52 or smaller XB-44. Buy a DP-60R arca-swiss QD plate with it.

*The Arca-Swiss style QD plates allow you to use two mounting bolts when attaching a HOG Saddle. The best option currently available.
