I'm doing another 10/22 build, but instead of all the flash, I would like to keep it looking relatively plain and unappealing.

Ive been looking for a stock and I think I have decided on a Hogue 10/22 over mold but I have been reading mixed reviews.

It seems people are happy with it, but some reviews have come back saying the forend is a little to unstable and "flex" when shooting with a sling or off a bipod.

I was just wondering if anyone has one of these stocks and has gone through the steps to see if it will actually stay free floated in these conditions. Ill be using a modified V-Block to support the barrel, but I'm wondering if its going to be enough.

I really want to stay away from the laminate, or the target looking stocks. I know a lot of you guys out there have built these things up like I do, give me your opinion...

The stock 10/22 stock sucks... the Hogue stock is very nice but contacts the barrel even off hand, and certainly whne using a bipod. I had it on a Rem Tactical, and I imagine it will do the same on the 10/22. I have wanted for a while to put a 10/22 build together, and I will certainly use a Hogue... the idea of it contacting the barrel (especially a 0.920 profile) doesn't concern me.

Thats what I was thinking.. or fitting some smaller metal rods in there to tighten it up. I just wasnt sure, that stuff seems like it would smell bad after you heated the barrel up.

The Butler Creek stocks dont look to bad either, I wonder if they are more rigid.

Try the Hogue out first .. you might be surprised how good it is without any mods. Remember, the guys at RFC are talking about bench rest accuracy most of the time. If you just want an accurate 10/22 for plinking or hunting, the Hogue is awesome!

:)

Pro Mag Industries

Pro Mag Industries has a new stock for the Ruger 10/22. Its called ArchAngel. It takes the basic 10/22 and puts it into a stock that makes it look like an AR.
There are two models, the U$199.00 version and the U$299.00 version.
Take a look, these units are brand new and debutted at the 2009 SHOT Show.

With the laminate stocks that I have been using (like Predator or Boyds) they do give the bench rest accuracy. Ill take a look at the Hogue though, I think I actually need to handle one and get a feel for it. If not, Ill probably just try and find a nice normal wood stock.

[/IMG]I like my Hogue stock. There is a little flex but I don't think it would cause a problem with heavy barrel. I could be wrong but mine is a tack driver.

Hey.. Thanks for the pics and the explanation.

Have you ever shot with a sling or bipod on it? The Green Mountain barrel that Im using is a lot heavier then I thought it was going to be so I kinda thought that a little stock rub wouldn't have made a big deal... what does the inside ribbing look like on the forend? Do you have a picture of that?

the archangel is cool
