I have a Burris BDC on my muzzleloader. It works pretty well at 200 yards. I also have a busy reticle on my coyote rifle, and that one has knobs as well. For big game, I do have one CDS scope but I haven’t even mounted it yet. The areas I hunt, 300 would be a long shot so I set up all my scopes for max point blank range. You can’t necessarily trust ballistics calculators though, when I set up my WSM at 100, I was higher than predicted at 200 and had to adjust (yes I have a chronograph). So sighting in 2 inches high at 100 isn’t gospel either. But for 300 yard shooting and big game, it’s the best way to go so long as you have a means to shoot your gun at varying ranges and see what it actually does. If I ever hunted areas with 600 yard shots I guess I’d think about dialing, but then there is the whole ethical question of should I be shooting at that range on a game animal unless I can regularly practice at those distances. For me, I can’t so I won’t. But if I could…. maybe I would?))
