This is part of the problem with the shooting sports the in fighting. My club went through a phase of shunning young members. Telling a young guy that is looking for a place to shot a Glock that me should buy a 2G Olympic air pistol and shot that is not going to get you any young people. Funny thing is that most of these same people that didn’t like the young kids because of there 9mm pistols and like for SKS’s and AR 15’s all had stories about when they where young like ground hog hunting with a FA Sten gun. Another problem is IPSC has this secret society atmosphere to it. IPSC almost seems to be hiding even from other shooters. A lot of people have a wrong idea of IPSC think its “combat” shooting how may people have heard the white target brown target thing from non IPSC shooters. IPSC needs some PR.

When a club see's the monetary value that IPSC can bring into a club it sheds a whole new light on things and also having 75 % of the BOD as Action shooting guys is a big plus as well. JMHO

Every club has a sewing circle of old farts who know everything, run everyting, and hate anything to do with what the new guys see as progressive.

They get to be old farts in charge because they've been doing the work since Christ was a Jew, and at the end of the day, it's the work that counts. You'll never win over the old farts by dangling the idea of money in front of them. You'll not win them over by letting them shoot your new and exotic toy.

You'll win them over by taking over the meat and potatoes work around the club. I don't mean a beer hall putch, but meaningfull work. When you are the guy they can count on to police up the range garbage cans and haul them to the dumpster, it counts. When your the guy who is replacing the target stands and backer boards, it will count.

You've got to win them over like you are the long haired boyfriend, trying to date their daughter. Fighting with them rarely works.

Actually we where lucky in a weird sort of way that the OCC didn’t want to run things. I was president of my gun club at 22-23 years old. I am now probably Secretary/treasure till I die or the liberals ban shooting.

So the machpol.pdf supersedes Appendix A1 for matches in Ontario?

Second question will IPSC Ontario organize the RO’s or do we have to find ones willing to work and submit there names with are application

It's a requirement for IPSC Ontario to santion the match. It part of our due diligence. We don't want to open ourselves up to liability. Officiating is not something you want to take for granted.

We don't organize the RO's for these matches...but we could certaionly out you in touch with RO's in your area

It's great to have qualified CROs and ROs at every match and it's great to have a lot of active members supporting a club, but there appears to be a discrepancy when CROs and ROs who don't shoot or rarely shoot work as officials in level 1 thru 5 matches.

It is difficult to accept the skills of an CRO or RO when they don't practice what they preach, especially when it comes to new or revised rules. How can they go to a match or work on match approval or critique the stages when they have not shot in perhaps years? Do they use their vast years of experience? Rules change and age changes everything. I think there should be a requirement that an CRO and RO must shoot a number of level 2 matches or greater each year to qualify to be an RO. Apparently in Canada, once you receive CRO or RO status, as long as you work as an official for 6 points each year you no longer need to shoot, to be an RO.
At the Nationals each year, CROs are brought in who may not have shot in a long time. Some of them are excellent, working hard, along side the ROs, but some are lazy and are there to socialize.

In the USA the ROs are required to be tested every year.
