I conduct load development and shoot groups during the off-season until I find a 1/2 inch group or better @ 100 yards. Now that the hunting season is just around the corner, more particular November, this time of year I practice shooting prone at various distances from 100 to 300 yards at the rifle range. Later, closer to November I then venture onto crown land, locate my regular cutline, pace off 500 yards, set-up an A-frame sign (my wife's real estate sign....don't tell her please). I then hammer away at the target with three carefully placed shots, in particular, I want to know the POI on the first shot, at all distances. I clean my rifle and then repeat the process until I am confident of the integrity and POI of the rifle.
It would be unorthodox not to repeat this annual tradition...........POI on the first shot is key!
