I have a m98 action with rear bridge tapped for the Weaver 45 aluminum base. I am unable to find a steel 45 base. Are there any other brands that match the .504 hole spacing? I can contour if needing to fit another radius, but don't want to weld a hole and redrill for say Burris bases if I don't have to, and don't really want to tool up for custom bases.

The charger hump is gone.

I don't know of any steel bases... I have to ask, "what's wrong with using the Weaver base?" Many thousands do.

Warne 902/830m fits the spacing. Took about a million phone calls to sort it out though.

Aluminum works fine but the mounts need to be profiled to fit an altered receiver and aluminum doesn't refinish easily. In this case it'd be false economy.

In the end the options seem to be Warne Maxima, Weaver Grand Slam, Talley, and Leupold gunsmith bases. I may just tool up as well and make one. A one piece base from EGW could work if it was blank but chances of matching wouldn't be too good.

The radius profile will need recutting regardless of what is used.
