Holes in my Marlin 1894

I have a Marlin 1894 Cowboy in 357. When I got it, it had 6 holes in it. 4 on the top for scope mount and 2 on the side. I bought a bag of marlin screws and they fit perfect for the scope mount holes. But they didnt fit the 2 holes on the side of my reciever. Anyone know what kind of screw will fill this hole?

Was it drilled for a Williams or Lyman receiver sight?

The screw size is 6-48 for a Lyman or Williams receiver sight

they are same size as those on a Winchester. they are threaded plugs that are removed for installing a side mount or a peepsight.

Buy a Williams foolproof for it and take the slide off. Take scope mount off and replace the slide if your scope fails.
