Some years back, after reading Ross Seyfried article, I built a modern version of the 244 H&H. Basically a 7 Rem Mag case necked down to 6mm, blown out and improved. Wasn't as accurate as I had hoped, but you could push an 85 gr Barnes X over 4000 fps. - dan
My trip to London had to include the H&H store. I ended up with a tie was only 90 pounds. The price for a double rifle is a bit more then it was in 1957 .
The price list at the back of the catalogue lists a double rifle at £600, or $1680. Inflation to the current day would put that at just under $20,000, or £12,641. If you actually went to buy one today, it would be at least ten times as much.
