Hollow Ground Bit Spares?

I am curious, I have a Wheeler screwdriver set for taking the guns apart but I want to be able to have spare bits around, I have broken a couple over the years and would like to not have to wait for the replacement ones from Wheeler (they have a lifetime warranty).

Does anyone know where to buy a set or two of spares or is it cheaper just to buy a couple screwdriver sets?

Vermont-American, used to find them at Canadian Tire, they are the originals of the Brownells famous versions.

Chapman seems to sell individual bits, although it's from the US, so there will be some waiting in store.

Weird, I just emailed them and said it broke, they asked me for the part number and my address and sent me another, done and done.

They are soft made in China steel.

These ones are not soft, if anything they are too hard, they snapped and the structure of the metal is very obvious, they are hard.

Mine twisted before breaking never heard of Chinese steel or gun parts for that matter being too hard.Like poor Chinese QC some hard some soft all shipped.BTW I called Wheeler 5 min ago and got someone more pleasant on the phone who is now sending me free replacement bits.Much nicer than the previous person I talked to who could have cared less.Hit or miss I guess.

Ya, not in my case, just trying to turn the screw out then pop, no twist at all, twisted bits from Princess Auto yes, not from this Wheeler set.

I found the same thing. Snapped the end off one so cleanly it took a moment to realize that it was shorter than it was.

It honestly looks like the most cost effective way to do it is just to buy another small set or two as backup, $25 from a big box store for 26 bits, they want $3 each for replacement or spare bits, the larger kit is $55, which would fill in the gaps I am sure.

Actually, I think Apex is the mfr. of the Brownells bits, at least the current ones. Brownells still usses some of the Apex part numbers (445### etc.)

Well things change. I bought mine forty years ago from CT, the set and handle bore the name Vermont American, and I've never managed to break or bend one. But as I said it was forty years ago.
