Hollow Point Ammo, Lots of pics!

I've included a few shots of varieties not yet pictured

This Winchester SXZ seems to be a Bass Pro exclusive as best I can tell:

I didn't bother taking pics of ones the OP had already done, and some like the Black Hills will just look identical to the Speer GDHP as that's the projectile they use.

Those Fiocchi definitely have a different ogive then a an xtp, Iam thinking they are a proprietary bullet from Fiocchi

The Fiocchi website does not specifically note them as being XTP projectiles for this 9APHDP sku, which they typically do as they load XTP’s in lots of their lineup. Looking at Hornady’s website though, it’s clear that the 147 grain XTP has a ‘plump’ ogive when compared to the straight-taper ogive of the lighter XTP’s.

Aha! It certainly isn’t XTP as Fiocchi has another sku in 147 grain that is specified as being XTP. Interesting that the XTP is loaded to 25 FPS slower than the stuff I bought: https://fiocchiusa.com/9mm-luger-147-wt-xtphp-950fps-500-cs-25-bx-20bx-cs.html

For anyone who doesn't already know Ranger SXT is black talon that is not black

Shawn

Well, just about …. We used to be issued Black Talons about 20 years ago and then switched to the more politically correct rounds over the years. From a look at the BT's vs the SXT's, the bullet design has changed quite a bit over the years. They are visually different (minus the black color of course).

Iam not so sure about that, there is too many Winchester lines, I’ll post a few photos of them side by side when I get home, they are almost identical, where as the T serious is very similar but has some noticeable differences. And the bonded series look different more yet, and same with the PDX series as well.

I don't know about that the Black talons I have are the "same exact thing" as the SXT I have that are new.

They used to say that is how the SXT got their name... Same eXact Thing as the Black Talons.

LOL I have never heard that one before, I am stealing it

Shawn

The only outer appearance difference I can see is the black talon has slightly more rounded bumps on the top of the bullet, I'll pull one of each and compare them that way too later,

Winchester changed the name of the Black Talon due to political pressure, long before BLM! The SXT and the Talon have undergone subtle changes but are basically the same projectile. The SXT is a good bullet, but lacking compared to modern bullet designs. Having said that, it does the job most of the time, but intermediate barriers can be a challenge.

Any of them except the R.I.P. BS

Handguns are poor fight stoppers

Shawn

Plus 1! So much depends on your situation. LE agencies, especially in Canada as there is no CCW generally, have completely different needs than most people. There are plenty of whiz bang magic bullets advertised out there, I have been fortunate enough to shoot a lot of them. Basic rule, choose a round from one of the top tier makers (Federal, Speer, Winchester, Remington, Hornady etc...) of a weight and design that falls into the perameters you need, and is generally available. Buy enough to function test it (200 Rds or so), and spend your money on the cheapest bulk ammo and train train train!

Not much available right now! Lots sold out, I don’t think enough credit is given to the SXT cutting petals, they are insanely sharp and would cut a vital with ease.

I agree that the Ranger SXT is a very good choice in most cases. It's greatest downfall is performance in automotive glass which isn't a big deal for most people.

The Hornady critical defense and duty with the poly plug is actually seems like a great invention,
Prevents foreign debris from getting in there and stopping expansion. Iam surprised others haven’t followed suit unless there is a patent on that design

I'm guessing there is a patent. The Hornady is a good concept and has had some decent results from what I've heard. I've also heard of some failures, but that is evident with all handgun rounds. As was mentioned, handguns are poor fight stoppers, but I'll add that they will do in a pinch ;)
