Hollow-points illegal???

So I encouraged my gf to get her restricted and non-restricted PAL and she had her course today. (YAY!!! My gf is on the road to becoming one of us!!!) The instructor had told the class that hollow-point bullets were illegal to be in possession of. I have used hollow-point bullets at the range many times. As a matter of fact my range was selling Winchester Rangers and Federal HST ammo for the longest time. Can someone help me figure out wtf cuz I'm confused?

The instructor was from Quebec, but I won't give his name, sorry. He's actually a realy good guy and has been instructing for a long time. He was the same dude I went to and I don't remember him ever saying that to my class.

Hollow points are legal. I have about 2500 rounds of HP .223 in my basement.

The instructor in my PAL course told us that if you want to lock your ammo in the same safe as your guns, it has to be locked in a small container within the safe. He was 100% wrong.

The problem is most likely with him teaching for long time without following the news.
HP ammo was illegal in the past, that's where he got it from.

Not the first time an instructor was wrong. They may have their hearts in the right place, but not their minds.

IIRC it was illegal for INDIVIDUALS to IMPORT it because NRCAN was under the mistaken impression it exploded on impact. That is no longer the case though.

Smart move.

Remember, most of these guys that teach the classes are firearms enthusiasts that want to get more people into the hobby. And that though it is pretty easy to sit behind a keyboard and sh1t talk a guy, he is still the one that put up the time to teach some highly questionable material, necessary to get more people into our hobby.

Kinda off topic, but I talked with an instructor years ago and he was open with the fact his .40 cal was unlocked in the night stand loaded with hp's and one in the hole, and he'd be damned if he'd let someone come inside his home without doing his best to protect his family. What a bad dude.... a danger to us all..weird thing is he didnt strike me as a gangster or a drug dealer, just a protective father and husband. But the law's the law and he'd be a criminal if caught. Awesome system we have here.

Thats is asking for trouble! one in the hole wouldnt take much for a little one to take safety off and pull a 3lbs trigger, thats if he put safety on.guess he lived in bad area or paranoid

To each his own I guess. It's kinda like speeding: you know you're speeding and so are the people around you, but the minute you're caught YOU have to pay the piper, not everyone else. Note: I definitely DO NOT condone this.
