Holos/red dots

Have you seen the recent recall from the US military? Eotech is in trouble and their optics are sketchy.

Local

I have seen the shenanigans transpiring, but I bought this optic prior to this stuff popping up and have had no issues thus far. Have taken it innawoods in +30 and innawoods at -30 and held zero fine. If it does bung up after a while, it was a 300 dollar eotech, so I'm not too concerned.

That being said if it does go, I won't be buying another eotech.

Wow, that was close! A few more degrees and you might have noticed a small shift in zero.

Are any of the recent posts still directed at the OP, (who's name is in pink) or is this just a discussion amongst yourselves now, lol!

I had an Aimpoint Micro H1 for a while, but at the time, it was a lot of money tied up in one optic, so I flipped it to free up cash back then. Since then, I've gotten a couple of PROs for different rifles, a couple of Bushnell TRS25s (for the 22s and shotguns) and an Eotech. Nothing wrong with any of them, but I sort of miss the Micro H1. There's also the H2, which hasn't noticeably affected the price of the H1s.

I've also been looking at those Holosuns and there seems to be a huge push for these from retailers with loads of good online reviews, even south of the border. A few people have had hiccups, but the customer service in Canada apparently is top notch.

I am considering a Holosun myself after considerations for the TRS-25 and others. I would give one a go as the reviews seem to be good, and with many products now just being the same repackaged/rebranded Chinese product, if these are just as good as anything in it's price range or better, why not.

I bought one for my Vector since it's kind of a frig around gun. I wanted to get another RMR but by the time you add a mount, tax, shipping you're talking $900 or so. I've only had it out once but so I'm cautiously optimistic. I know that it's not in the same league as Trijicon or Aimpoint products but I don't need "jump out of a helicopter" ruggedness for this one...just "use at the range" ruggedness.

The Chinese dissected aimpoint and figured out the battery saving technique. The diode is actually not continuing on, but it is pulsing at a rate that human eyes cannot detect.

Optics are not static display items. Holding mechanical zero all the time over a wide temperature range is important, in addition to be able to take the recoil from rifle to at least GPMG.

I need mine for Delta Force type missions at the range against paper targets. $900 makes sense.

lol

Even for range use I'm OK with using expensive sights in some cases--for me I've usually got good-quality sights in my competition guns (I've got an ACOG on my AR for example).
