I'm looking for something in a holosight(had a eotech before) and wondering what is out there for the smallest site available for this type of thing? I hope I'm making sense. HAHA. Something low for mounting on a M14.

Just checked them out ... doesn't say how they are mounted ... will they fit on a picatinny type mount by themselves or do we need to purchase a mount for them?(which would add height)

You have to purchase the mount. There are different heights of mounts.

I have a small picatinny rail that mounts where the stripperclip guide is and wondering if I could mount one of these wee optics on it? FrankieT, do you have a link or info on mounts? Thank you for any help,

The Doctor and Burris Fastfire are about the smallest.

The Vortex Sparc which is a red dot instead of a holosight is pretty small mounts low has a lifetime warranty and is priced around $200.00

Insight is the lightest and the toughest I have come across yet. The battery life is great and when it does finally come time to remove the battery the compartment is on top. The dot is crisp and there is no need for a NVG mode as it automaticaly switches to it when using the sensor. Also the senor does not turn off the RDS in a dark enviroment. In a bright light it is still quite visable. I have tried them all and this one is still #1 in my books. The RMR is nice to but the features on this MRDS far out way the RMR. The only one I haven't tried was the Zeiss RDS but with a 130 hour run time and the same price as the top 3 don't think I will be buying 1 any time soon.
  1. MRDS
  2. RMR
  3. Way back on the list Burris Fast Fire II

The fast fire will work great on a M14 placed on the stripper clip guide rail. It is quite rugged and I have had it on everything I can think of. Also LeBarron's has them on sale for $230 plus government contributations.

Just get a pictiny protector just incase.
;)

are you by any chance mounting this on a shorty m14 otokiak? I can see why you might want it nice and low... cheek weld might get to be a problem?

The RMR with the "low" mount might work well, but the extra $100 for the mount is kind of a turn off.

I know its not a holosight, but have you looked at the burris fast fire 2 ?
Can get a mount with it that doesn't add height or cost an extra $100.

I have the trijicon RMR on a picatiny rail on a benelli M2, works excellent it came with the picatiny mount.. The Leupold delta point comes either with just a picatiny mount or a wide variety of pistol mounts and a picatiny mount.

dizzy, Satain, others ... so you are saying these types of sites could withstand the recoil of a M14?

Yep.
Although if you are looking at a Delta Point buy an RMR or MRDS. As the Delta Point aint worth the $$$ that they are asking for it. It is a little better than the Fast Fire but defenatly not worth the 2 to 300 dollars more.

HOLY FAARKEN SNICKERS BATMAN ... almost $800 with rail for this MRDS site ... DOH!

$800?
HHHrrrggghhhaaaurghhh.

I fear I may need the Heimlich to remove the remainder of the Tim's donut I was so thoroughly enjoying before I read that. I'm afraid it is now midway to my sinuses and almost completely to my lungs.

thats worth more than my m-14s and 858 together! ( I got them both cheap!)

that fast fire by burris is looking better and better!

Yeah that's what I read on that internet site ... JEBUS ... however, I did get a contact send me an e-mail with 1/2 that price but without mount ... waiting on availability of mount and site together as a package.
