Holosun red dots?

Yeah I've had good luck with mine but I admit I don't do tactical classes orcrawling around in the dirt with mine. Reading tvpps review is concerning but there seems to be just as many satisfied as unsatisfied customers. That indicates to me qc is inconsistent.

My HS515C has worked just fine. I haven't (and probably never will) given it a hard "tactical thrashing" but it's been great for plinking on my SR-22, Sub2K, Vector and XCR in 5.56.

I have two that have seen over 10K rounds each, and get bashed around in a plywood box in transport. I think they are double super excellent for the price you pay for them.

Some people are gun snobs and will only buy the best of the best all the time. For those people, unless it's Trijicon, Elcan or aimpoint, it's crap. there are plenty of good reviews on line.

Now here you go....if your budget allows you to buy an aimpoint, then buy an aimpoint. If it doesn't, then a holosun will serve you right. They have good customer service and the quality is pretty good. Battery life is advertised at 50k hours, it's a slim profile and comes with multiple mounts. I have one on my cz and its served me right. I also own an aimpoint micro on my AR however I wouldn't hesitate to get another holosun tomorrow. Just keep your expectations reasonable considering the price.

Also looking at picking one up. Hopefully this weekend if there are good sales around.
It appears that the early models might have had their fair share of lemons but the "500" series appear to get nothing but good reviews everywhere. Just as an FYI, the Primary Arms Advanced red dot sight with hundreds of positive reviews online is made by Holosun so I would think that they cannot be much worse than that...

Where did you mount it on your VZ? I am curious... I am thinking of putting mine as far forward on the CSA low mount as I can but I am wondering if it will be too close to the eye...

I'm with Gatehouse... Is it on par with Elcan, Aimpoint or EoTech? No, but it's nowhere near the same cost either.

I have a 403G on my Valtro shotgun. It's stood up to regular hard use, and doesn't wash out in bright sun. That's fine for me!

From my experience, I find the Bushnell TRS25 as the cheapest red dot that will perform acceptably, though I find they DO washout in bright sun.

I put the Holosun on par with the Vortex SPARC series, though Vortex does have a greater track record and bigger company behind them.

EoTech, Aimpoint and Elcan are top of the heap for me, though I prefer the EoTech reticle personally.
