Wondering if anyone here could make a recommendation or two for a Beretta 92fs holster. Brands and places to buy would be helpful. Probably use it for IDPA and posing in front of my bedroom mirror.

Thanks

if yours is not railed(and you didn't call it a 92a1), there are plenty.

I strongly recommend the Comp-Tac Minotaur Gladiator. I have one for my SR9 and its awesome. Fit is great, and adjustable, it draws fast in competition, and it is very comfortable with the leather backing. It is well made, strong and with the belt fasteners, you don't have to take your belt off to put on or remove your holster. They also make great mag pouches. I have a railed Beretta so I couldn't get this same one, but I did buy one of their International holsters. It has options for carry and competition in a few different configs. They are quality holsters for sure.

I like it so much I ordered one for my 1911 as well. No they are not cheap, being $90 but they are great!

I picked up an Itac from Freedom Ventures for mine...people piss and moan about button release holsters being unsafe, it's a 12lb DA first trigger pull on these, ain't gonna accidentally go off if your finger hits it.
The reason I prefer it to simple kydex retention holsters is that once you press the button to draw, there is no tension.....comes out fast and smooth as butter lol

When I had my M&P40 I used a Blackhawk Serpa holster. It was great, and retention was excellent. I'm sure they make one for a Beretta. I have an Inox Beretta 92fs and Bianchi leather mini holster for 'mafia poses' in front of the mirror!

I dont get the point of using a holster if your in canada... although i do not have my rpal, i just like looking at what handguns canadians are using. and if the laws open up a bit ill be the first in line to get one

Wilderness carry, competition and just having a place to put your gun when your at the range.

Some ranges mandate it that you have your pistol holstered when not in use. Plus its needed for IPSC IDPA etc...

How exactly does one practice drawing and firing from the holster, if one doesn't have a holster? Also, drawing from concealed is a lot safer with a holster, and transitions from carbine to pistol are pretty pointless without a holster.

That's the Blackhawk Serpa, right?

There's a load and a half out on the web about how "unsafe" it is due to the location and operation of the retention catch. But since the only way to "safe" the 92 is to de-#### the gun and shoot the first round in DA mode it's not a big deal.

But if you would like to change it from a press to release to a straight pull to release then look down inside and see the barb on the catch. If you remove the pin you can remove the retention catch. Then reshape the barb so it's got a slope on both sides instead of being vertical on the one side. With this mod it works as a simple spring catch retention with a straight pull to draw when you put it back in.

I switched mine over for the occasional IDPA use when I found that I'd sometimes be pulling on the gun and the catch would not want to let go until I eased off the pressure so I could depress the catch. We don't need the class whatever retention up here and I sure don't need it so I modified mine. It works great now.

As for wearing the finish if you keep the inside of the holster grit free the plastic itself won't hurt the finish other than perhaps some light burnishing. Scratches like I'm seeing on MartyK's gun only come from grit and dust embedded into the plastic and acting like sandpaper.

Hey Marty, use a stainless wire "toothbrush" to clean the rubbing surfaces in your holster to rip out the grit that you obviously have in the plastic. Don't use sandpaper or anything like that which would just add more grit when the surface breaks down. Use a wire brush instead. If that makes the plastic really rough then you can melt the surface back to fairly smooth with a FAST application of a propane torch to just flash the surface fibers.

I've treated some dirt bike plastics that I sanded the same way to clarify the surface. It's not perfect but at least the surface is smooth again and won't hold dirt well.

Ghetto Fobus BR-2 for myself but honestly it works just fine for my needs, which is what you see right there.

Keeps a pistol at the ready and legal.

Competitions, thats the whole point of getting an rpal is to compete...

i will second the Fobus holster i have run it for a year and it has never let me down. i love the paddle type for easy on off, i am too lazy to undo my belt...

That's what I've got for my Girsan. I love the thing, but damn is there a lot of hate out there for these...

What's his face shot himself in the leg with his 1911 using one. But it was cocked and locked and he was thumbing safety off on the draw. Again with a heavy DA like the 92 has it's a non issue for these guns.
