A friend of a friend picked this up and they have asked me to help in id'ing it.

It has 2 MAB D mags in the holster. I have googled but cant find a holster that looks like it. So not sure if WW2 or earlier or some post war French Holster. It could even be for another non french pistol and just some one put the mags in a long time ago. There are no markings on it at all.

Any help would be appreciated.

My first thought was Luger, but it'd be a guess. If there are no markings, it may not be an issue holster from anywhere. How big is it?
The stitching on the trigger side look like it ends, um, early?

Its rather distinctive with two magazine pouches, large irregular flap and cut out. I checked my copies of Bender's and Vanderlinden's holster books and did find an exact example.

Perhaps a variation of the MAB D holster shown in Bender on p. 41 with two pouches instead of one.

If commercial and connected to the French somehow could even be a holster for small Savage, Browning or Colt. It could also be a commercial holster for a PP or perhaps a Mauser Model 1914. You might try taking some measurements to narrow it down.
