Hi there,

For those of you that recall my previous thread, I've decided on a Glock 19, with either a 106mm or 108mm barrel depending on who has the best deal. Anyway, I'm looking for recommendations for a holster which can accommodate the extra barrel length. This would be for IDPA. A lot of folks seem to like the Raven brand, but I'm open to suggestions. The two key points are meeting IDPA's concealable requirement and able to handle the longer barrel.

Suggestions?

Thanks!

A straight-drop Outside-Waist-Band holster in Kydex that is unencumbered by any extra security features is probably going to be the most competitive option, and an Inside-Waist-Band holster is probably going to be the most concealable (though probably not the most competitive) option, but the fact that you chose the G19 over a G34 tells me that competitiveness is not necessarily the overriding consideration.

You might choose more than one holster (for different situations), or you might prefer to buy one holster that performs acceptably in most situations. No one holster can be expected to do everything well. Retention features may prevent gun loss, but can be expected to slow and otherwise complicate a consistent draw. Sweatguards protect, but also can compromise the master-grip draw. Closed loops are very secure, but they make a holster and pouch slower to don and doff (when compared to a clip on loop). Leather may be more comfortable, but it also induces drag on the draw (when compared to Kydex).

Raven holsters may be so tight as to not fit any unusual feature; they can be ordered for extended/threaded barrels, but otherwise might not fit. In any event, the wait time is long enough that you'll have to buy another to tide you over until the Raven's arrival. I suggest that you consider the Comp-Tac Infidel (with Infidel belt clip), the Comp-Tac MTAC, the Comp-Tac CTAC, The Crossbreed Supertuck, and the Sidearmor Inside the Waistband (and Modular Outside the Waistband) holsters, to use in the meanwhile, while you wait for your Raven (extended/threaded barrel) holster of choice. All of the preceeding holsters readily accomodate your 108mm barrel.

I just bought a glock 19 and picked up a mernickle PS2 Ref 1 iwb holster. It will accomodate the longer barrel. I had one for my G27 and it's great. Here's a picture:

Wait time is about 1 month and the price is very reasonable.

I cannot recommend NTAC enough. Quality on par with Raven, takes 30 days to make, free shipping to Canada, custom color, cant, mount, and you can even use a light with them. On top of that, they are far more affordable than Blade-tech. For the love of god stop thinking and buy this holster.

Looking at the NTAC site, it appears their holsters don't have the cutouts necessary for the Glock 19 extended barrel, and I don't see any option for that. Am I missing something?

I would just dremmel out the space, or contact them. They do a lot of custom stuff, so myabe theyll just toss a G17 barrel in a G19 when they make the holster for you. He's done one for a S&W 5496 for me, he had to go out and find one.

I believe the owners are John and Melissa Hibbard. Great guys
