I'm sure this has been asked before, but for all the searching I can do in 15 minutes, I wasn't able to find much out. Just reference to a "BRS-99" holster that I can't find out anything about.

Does anyone have a holster that works well with a 870 with 8.5" and pistol grip?

ta!

Wolverine used to sell BRS-99's but they are sold out. Worth checking to see if they have any extra holsters kicking around. I was looking at Marstar and they have an Extreme Ops Tactical Holster that is adjustable. Marstar claims it will fit pistols with tac lights, MP-5, and Uzi. For $40 it might be worth giving it a try.

Almost makes me want to buy one of those shotties so I can pack it around!!!

There was a fellow gunnutz who had an absolutely beauty rig made up by a leatherworker I believe in BC. There was quite an extensive thread on it and i believe a number of people also ordered them. It was at least a year ago. someone may speak up, but you may want to search the picture forum too because there were a lot of pictures. You may even ask Dlask if all else fails, they may have heard about it.

Before I read that it was for a shotgun and not a pistol I was going to suggest using a garbage can butit would have been a waste of a good can. As a leather crafter I could make a kit, but before it was used for a Dlask I'd go Vegan and fight to save the life of the cow the leather would come from !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow... thanks for your insight and contribution to this thread. You must be a highly skilled and sought after leather crafter who has so much business he can be closed minded and not try to get more clients. Well done!!! :slap:

yeah, i remember that thread -- the custom leather holster was pretty sweet.

...but despite the assurances of the people buying and selling them i am far from convinced that an 8.5" PGO shotgun is non-restricted.

I had one....custom made. Ran it with a Dlask 8.5 shottie, Knoxx SpecOps collapsible stock, measured 26.5 inches so no issues with non vs res class.

Get a hold of Stockmans Stalls in Killam AB. Leather and tack work. Reference the 8.5 inch shotgun and he'll make one up for you.

lol...too late, already mentioned

Is no one going to tell him that the shotgun with an 8.5" barrel and only a pistol grip is a no no?

How does it go...."judged by 9 than eaten by ONE BIG FRIGGIN BRUIN!"

hahaha....kidding kidding ;)

Yes, hence my post. The Knoxx SpecOps will measure legal on an 8.5 by 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch. Pistol grip is GREY as of yet....but not advised unless you are intentionally looking for a court date. Really though, follow up shots without the stock are difficult to say the least...trust me....2 3/4 slugs can be fired with one hand.....what would I call the accuracy that that point....not good? incompetent? useless? And the rails on the forend of a factory Dlask eat skin, gloves, nails, etc. Better to let the stock take the recoil, not your palm. IMHO.

One handed with the Knoxx stock in your shoulder, looking through an Eotech works rather well actually. A far better one armed setup than a pistol grip, if you fell and hurt your arm for example....and at what cost....8 inches longer than the knoxx PGrip? Minor.

:D

'grey' based on what? speculation by some armchair experts?

ill believe that an 8.5" shotgun with a PGO is legal when someone either sets a court precedent or posts some videos of themselves hiking by some RCMP and COs with one in holster.
its very easy to sit here on a forum and assure other people that its legal, with no risk to yourself. if these people are so sure about their theory - go prove it.

Grey is exactly that. On the books, letter of the law, as interpreted by 50% of whoever, it's legal. The other 50% are stout believers in the "not legal" or restricted version of the idea. Until taken to court and won (as you mentioned) it remains...grey.

I'm not an advocate of carryig with the pistol grip, because it will land you in court waiting for a decision...BUT....I can see the argument has merit if challenged.

So I agree with you Manbearpig. It just hasn't been taken to court yet.

i wonder if the charge has not been laid that they, meaning the RCMP are thinking that they might lose this case depending on the judge it comes before .perhaps the way things are now suits them . that being said some poor sap will be the guinea pig .

Perfectly legal as a restricted gun. FYI.

Yes that is correct, perfectly legal as a restricted gun. But I think the intent of the original poster was to have it in a holster while he was in the bush (hence the no no comment). I am not sure if he meant to have it in a holster at the range for some purpose, if that was the case and it is a restricted range and the gun is registered as restricted then it would be a yes yes. :)

I think I like the idea, someone else mentioned, of having the 8.5" barrel (or perhaps 12") with the knoxx stock on a box mag fed gun like the grizzly.

I'll find pics later, I used my shoulder holster WITH the knoxx Specops attached. The stock rides just behind my shoulder blade and I am 6 foot tall....perfect fit, and the muzzle sat just below my belt around 8 inches I think....maybe less.

Again...contact Stan as mentioned above.
