So...

I use, and am happy with my Blackhawk holster for my SW9...although I would be interested in trying a leg kit...

Anyways:

I am looking for, and cannot find a holster for a 4.2 GP100 that is as secure as my Blackhawk. Does anyone know of anything out there that has a positive retention system? Although there are nice leather ones ones out there, I am leery of the gun not staying put, so, are there any other options?

I use a Fobus holster for my GP100 and I like it, it holds the pistol firm enough and is easy to draw from at the same time.

I don't know if I would use it as a duty holster if I were a policeman but for range use it is more than adequate.

I personally use a Safariland "Cup Challenge" Competition Holster.

Retention was actually too high for me, even with the retention screws back all the way off I had to modify the holster a bit to loosen it up. So out of the box I would not be worried about it "Not gripping enough"

(Mine is used for steel challenge, not running around, even though I would run with no fears of dropping it)

BladeTech makes one for the 4.2" GP100. Works for me, but I only shoot Steel Challenge.

I did however have the holster separate from the paddle (?) once. You may want to consider applying some Loctite to the attachment screws.

I looked at the Fobus, and ready a many not so glowing reviews. Sure, its subjective, but the average was overwhelmingly negative. Maybe things have changed though?...

I guess it depends.....what are you going to be using it for?

I found a Bladetech and tried it out with a 4.2 686. Although not as secure as I was hoping, it wasn't too bad. I tightened the screws a bit and unless I'm doing handstands, the hold was adequate.
