Holster for Kadet kit on Shadow

I picked up a Kadet kit for my SP-01 Shadow when I first got the pistol and use it ALOT. I usually start my range session with it and shoot atleast as much .22 trying to clean up my technique before switching to 9mm.

The kit is great, and seems to eat whatever I feed it. The only problem is it doesn't fit into my Blade Tech holster which means I have to either carry it around, or leave it on the bench.

Any suggestions on a holster that it will fit into? It doesn't need to meet any league rules as its just for practice. I don't mind spending the money but hate the thought of buying until I find one that fits.

Any help would be great!

Interesting, I just bought a Kadet kit and just assumed it would fit in the holster I have for my Shadow (I know the Sig 226 with the conversion kit installed fits a standard 226 holster). Guess I've got some looking to do too
 
Must be a pretty tight holster. Should be easy enough to modify it to fit..... but you might end up with a loose fit on your shadow.

If you're looking for just a place to park an empty gun while at the range then pick up an Uncle Mike's #18 fabric jobbie. I originally got this to hold the revolver it's listed for but I've found that it's a great parking spot for just about any handgun I've got. My CZ75 fits in it but the Shadow is too tight due to the "fat nose" it has. It takes 1911's, Ruger Mk III's, S&W 422's/2206 and also my new 41. It even fits the K frame revolvers I originally bought it for. I'ts just a great all around way to carry just about any handgun other than a few extremely larger or fatter guns.

Oops, just reread your post and see that you installed the kit on a Shadow. There's still a soft Uncle Mikes that will work but you'll want a model intended for guns with blockier noses on them Go for one of the models that lists Glock G21 as one it'll fit and that'll take the fat snout of your "Shadet".

It's probably just the slightly different profile then binding it up a bit, does that model of holster have adjustable tension?

The area around the ejection port might be the culprit, if you can't loosen the tension a bit you'd have to spot heat the plastic carefully only where needed to relieve the pressure. If you get it right and keep the plastic cool where you don't want it changed (wet cloth) you might end up with a dual purpose holster that still retains your 9mm to an acceptable level for your use?

Once you've found the "hang up point" you could build it up a bit more with some electrical tape to help push it out in that spot and use the gun itself to reshape the mold. It's best to warm the plastic slowly. Do you have a heat gun and any experience with kydex shaping?

Like BC rider, I have a "catch all" holster that works for most semi auto's, it's a tanker style M7/M9 that is a bit bigger then the typical 1911 tanker holster and is made to also fit the Beretta M9. It was pretty cheap when I bought it years ago and I was planning on using it for 1911's but it as worked out great for any double stacked 9mm semi auto I have tried so far.... the nice thing with leather is it does stretch a bit as well.

I have a heat gun yes, no experience with kydex, but a little bit of experience heating and bending XPVC. I will take a better look tonight and see, maybe it will be an easy fix and then I have a dual purpose holster.
 
I just tried mine and it most definitely does not fit with the Kadet kit installed. (Jams solid about halfway in) The holster tension is set to what i would call only moderate for the Shadow. I will try the Kadet again with the tension backed all the way out although I am doubtful that will help. When you compare the slide profile of the Kadet and the Shadow they are pretty different.
 
Did you try loosening the tension bolts? Maybe some spacers around the tension screws will give you the extra room you need.
It's looking like a second holster though if you need a tight fit for both slides. A CZ 75 leather holster will most likely work for both.
 
That's a huge difference and not one that you want to melt out the Bladetech to fit. If you did the stock Shadow will lack any stability in the holster.

It's that thing where the Kadet upper extends back over the half slide isn't it? The fixed portion of the upper needs to be that much taller so it's strong enough to resist breaking too easily.
