I am hoping to do my BB early next year. I will cross the border next month to buy a Holster, Mag Pouches and maybe magazines. My questions are:

Which production-approved holster fits my CZ 85 Combat? Do I really need a race holster?
How many magazines and mag-pouches is allowed?
Do I really need to use a belt designed for the holster and mag pouch? Or any duty-rated belt is good enough?

Do I need a permit to purchase 10-round magazines in US? It seems like this topic of firearms parts is quite a gray area depending on who you ask and the legal-knowledge level of a customs or border officer you will encounter. I can't even find a direct ITAR URL to check what most forums are saying regarding purchase of firearm parts and accessories from US and bringing them into Canada by air travel.

:confused::confused::confused:

Pls do it right the first time. Ask your bb instructor what he recommends and I'd also go to a match or two and see what people are using.

you can use any holster that fits your gun. it can be leather, nylon, kydex or race the only rule is the trigger must be completely covered.

you can carry as many magazines and pouches as you want for as long as none of them are forward of your hip bone. most people carry 4 on the belt and two in their back pocket. they use one from their back pocket to load the gun and then swap it out with the other one to start with a full mag plus one in the chamber.

you can use what ever belt holds up your pants. the two piece belts are nice in that your gear is always in the same place. the belt must pass through at least three belts loops to be legal so if you are not using a two piece belt then you have to take your gear on and off of your belts every time you degear.

Being stopped by US customs with gun parts (yes a magazine is considered a gun part) with out the proper export permits will result in a minimum of your property being seized. it can result in your vehicle being seized, cell time and a fine plus being banned from the US. your call to save how much?

It's not a grey area....exporting cartridge magazines from the US is illegal without the proper export permits.

The need for an Export Permit is clearer to me now. BTW, which agency handles this document? It should be a considerable purchase to get the most out of this permit. From the hassles of securing the permit thru levels of bureaucracy, to the scrutiny by customs and boarder officers upon leaving US, I might just consider the holster and pouches, if the savings are substantial. Otherwise, I might just buy from one of our supporting dealers.

If you are Canadian, you CANNOT get a US Export permit for firearms parts. Period. Done. US Law.

The belt, pouches and holster are all legal for you to you to purchase in the US and export because they are not firearm parts so fill your boots.

The magazines, or any other firearm part (read spring, pin, sight, screw, stocks, trigger, anything) requires an export permit regardless of the cost.

Best of luck with your Black Badge course and with IPSC. I've been enjoying it for over 12 years now and my only complaint is I don't have the time to practice enough or even shoot matches enough.
