I've settled on G17-length holsters because of the extended barrels with which we're required to contend. As you know, the Canadian G44 has a barrel that is slightly extended, compared to international G44 barrels. If one buys a G19 holster, in my experience, more often than not one risks a barrel extending from the bottom of your holster; if one buys a G17 holster, the fit for a G19 and a G44 is fine, and the Canadian-length barrel is safely contained within it.
As far as the G44, specifically, the only extra consideration is the fact that it has the right-sided slide stop of the Gen5 models, and while many holsters do not require any modification to accomodate, some might.
Safariland's mounting systems are compatable with many other holster brands, so you're not limited only to Safariland (unless you wish to be). When combined with Safariland's own 565BL mounting plate <https://safariland.com/products/model-565bl-hi-ride-belt-loop-model_565bl>, two of the best general-purpose holsters that come to mind are the J M Custom Kydex R/C OWB, and the Safariland 5197/5198, for example. Out of the box, both might need a little tweaking, to be perfect for you, but - once tweaked - both can be a pretty solid option, in my opinion.
If someone wanted my opinion about what might be the single best-bet for an out-of-the-box, no-tweaking, general purpose holster option for a Canadian G19 or Canadian G44, my recommendation would be simple: a G17-sized Raven Perun.
