As the title states, I have recently come into possession of a Glock 44. I am looking for the finer details on which holster to get for it that will complement my other Safariland 6378 with a locking thumb release. Currently I am set up with safarilands clip system to allow quick change of holster for different hand guns. Now, for the life of me, I just can’t seem to find a general conclusion online for which safariland holster that is similar to the one I have that works for the Glock 44. Some sites say go for the Glock 19 style, others Glock 17. It does fit in my Glock 34 holster, but I want something specific for it. I appreciate any suggestions you may have, but respectfully I prefer safariland holsters. Thanks

I've settled on G17-length holsters because of the extended barrels with which we're required to contend. As you know, the Canadian G44 has a barrel that is slightly extended, compared to international G44 barrels. If one buys a G19 holster, in my experience, more often than not one risks a barrel extending from the bottom of your holster; if one buys a G17 holster, the fit for a G19 and a G44 is fine, and the Canadian-length barrel is safely contained within it.

As far as the G44, specifically, the only extra consideration is the fact that it has the right-sided slide stop of the Gen5 models, and while many holsters do not require any modification to accomodate, some might.

Safariland's mounting systems are compatable with many other holster brands, so you're not limited only to Safariland (unless you wish to be). When combined with Safariland's own 565BL mounting plate <https://safariland.com/products/model-565bl-hi-ride-belt-loop-model_565bl>, two of the best general-purpose holsters that come to mind are the J M Custom Kydex R/C OWB, and the Safariland 5197/5198, for example. Out of the box, both might need a little tweaking, to be perfect for you, but - once tweaked - both can be a pretty solid option, in my opinion.

If someone wanted my opinion about what might be the single best-bet for an out-of-the-box, no-tweaking, general purpose holster option for a Canadian G19 or Canadian G44, my recommendation would be simple: a G17-sized Raven Perun.

Safarilands 6### and 7### holsters for Glock are all typically the same lenght (same holster shell) for the 19/17/34, they just use a different length barrel plug inside the holster. A holster that is marked for a "19" will probably have issues with fit due to the barrel plug being too high and because the barrel plug is designed for a 9mm sized barrel. I would suggest you use what you have if it fits or source a 6378 for a 17 and maybe play around with the passive retention screws and the barrel plug lenght.

Any Grey Fox holster for Glock 19 works. Made in Canada for Canadian barrel guns. If you find one state side ask if it will work with a Glock 19 threaded barrel. Factory threaded barrel is longer than Canadian barrel. Those are usually the open ended kydex holsters.
