Hey all!! Looking for a holster/mag pouches for a Browning Hi Power. Any suggestions? I've been digging around on-line but having some trouble finding anything.

Thanks so much!!

I'm also thinking of buying a nice holster for a Hi-Power. A lot of the older military holsters are made of canvas and just don't look good.

Someone told me that the 1911 holsters are a little loose fitting on the Hi-Powers. Is that right?

Ebay has some Hi-Power holsters for under $20. They are made of Cordura or some such fabric, but they don't provide much protection for the grip area. Another option would be leather, and Ebay has some of those as well at a higher price.

Any other ideas?

"...1911 holsters are a little loose..." Depends on the holster material. Any synthetic large semi-auto holster(Uncle Mike's) will do for either. Not so much with leather. Leather holsters are usually fitted for a specific pistol. The mag pouches will be totally different too, of course.
Like Proutfoo says, what you're using the holster for, matters a lot. As does where in Southern Ontario you are. Epp's, Gobles, Shooter's Choice, Marstar, et al, carry holsters.
Don't forget to buy a good belt too. The belt is as important as the actual holster.

Also, consider whether you need to have a drop and offset, if you are looking for a fairly rigid holster.... You ladies with your lovely curves often have trouble with a belt holster designed for male, rather than female anatomy - They tend to put the butt of the grip either into your armpit, or your ribs, depending on how tall you are.

Thanks!! I need it for IDPA. I'm fairly tall. I have used a bladetech holster for a Glock that I borrowed. It didn't bother me to wear if that helps.

I'd prefer either kydex or leather as opposed to canvas.

well in that case, Raven might be something to consider.

I would post a link here but will/might get tarred and feathered, so use google and look up Raven Concealment and have a look at the Phantom. 75$USD but is light as a feather, and overall great construction. The only drawback is that there is may be a delay in shipping (I waited around 1.5 months...) but they do ship to Canada.

If you want something relatively inexpensive - but does the job for IDPA look at a Fobus holster. They make them for the High Power and Wolverine Supplies carries the full line of Fobus.

Blade tech make excellent holsters for 1911's. and since you already like them. They also make a pack that comes with the 1911 holster and a double mag pouch. What clubs do you shoot at? I see you are wearing the Packing in Pink head gear are you not? I have a couple 1911 Blade tech packs on order for tactical cowboy so if you are not in a hurry you can check one out before you buy.

Actually - I'm in Vegas in my picture at The Gun Store - but I do have PIP gear! I actually went to custom earplugs because I don't like to shoot my rifle with muffs - but I luv the glasses!!

I shoot in Windsor/Sarnia/Chatham - although I've been out of the game for a couple months. Excited to get back!

Penner Custom Leather:

pennercustomleather.com

My Penner Speed Scabbard 1911 holster works for my BHP, but he also offers holsters made specifically for BHPs. Prices are reasonable and turnaround is quick.

Only problem with them is delivery time took me 4 months to get the
Holster but worth the wait

The Blade Tech IDPA pack for the 1911 would be great then. Blade Tech is great shtufff. That's pretty much all I use and I also like using the teklok belt attachment, makes putting on and taking off a breeze. Plus, if you get the leg platform from blade tech, you can turn any tek lok equipped holster/pouch into the drop leg variety for 3 gun matches and the like.

Forget about a "will-fit" holster and get a holster made expressly for your pistol. Leather is nice, but Kydex is more competitive. For IDPA, start with Kydex.

There are others, including Blade-Tech, Ky-Tac, and Raven, but Comp-Tac is what I recommend that you start with.

Comp-Tac is super-fast to produce and ship your holster, they are of very high quality, and your satisfaction is guaranteed (or your money back).

N.B.: Before you order your holster and pouches, review pages 29-36 of the IDPA rulebook (to understand the peculiar holster and equipment restrictions imposed by IDPA).
