Holsters and mag carriers Standard Div.

I've been looking for rules concerning holster and mag pouch restrictions for the different classes. So far I haven't come up with much. Can anyone point me in the right direction. I'm signed up for a black badge course and need to pick up some gear. I don't want to out class my gun (CZ75 SP01 / Glock 21 / STI Ranger II) by purchasing some fancy smancy holster / pouches.

Thanks :) !

No drop leg holsters or thigh rigs,...holster must cover trigger...butt of gun must be above the top of the belt...

Other than that it pretty much whatever you want.

In Standard and Production, there is a restriction on Holster position (behind the most forward portion of your hips)

Keep in mind that if you buy and tactical equipment or duty rigs with snap covers (pouches or holsters) the covers must be snapped close to start the stage...that makes them a pretty poor choice

If you don't want to spend a fortune, you may want to check out Bladetech

http://www.blade-tech.com

These are pretty easy to find in Canada

If you want to get something a bit racier...

or

...and I concur on the Guga pouches (from 2 Alpha) Hands down the most versatile pouches you can buy...

get the Guga pouches, they will work with all those mags I believe.

They will...

Guga is now providing inserts so you can use them on single stack mags...

I'm not sure if these have found their way to Canada yet but they were showing them off at the World Shoot...

Cheers

I believe I have the inserts in case I use them for a single stack. 2alpha sent them with the pouches.

Which rule(s) preclude(s) the use of paddle holsters?

hhmmm good question...

I just checked the 2006 rule book and didn't find what I was looking for. I would surmise that a clip on holster would not meet the requirement for your rig passing through at least two belt loops but I can't even find that in the new rule book

I've sent off an email to NROI Canada for clarification and I'll post the reply

Cheers

OK - I'm bringing this old thread forward - I've been searching for the reason why drop leg holsters are not allowed. I've heard that military/LE can use them though - whats the scoop here? I have both, and much prefer the drop leg unit - especially when it is colder out. The gun is easier to access. Anyway, just looking for the technical answer:)

5.2.7 Competitors must not be permitted to commence a course of fire wearing:

  • 5.2.7.1 A shoulder holster or "tie-down" rig (visible or otherwise), except as specified in Rule 5.2.8,
  • 5.2.7.2 A holster with the heel of the butt of the handgun below the top of the belt, except as specified in Rule 5.2.8,
  • 5.2.7.3 A holster with the muzzle of the handgun pointing further than 1 meter (3.28 feet) from the competitor's feet while standing relaxed,
  • 5.2.7.4 A holster which does not completely prevent access to, or activation of, the trigger of the handgun while holstered.

5.2.8 Competitors deemed by the Match Director to be active law enforcement officers or military personnel may be entitled to use their duty holsters and related equipment however, the Range Master will remain the final authority in respect of the safety and suitability of using such equipment at IPSC matches.

This would be my recommendations from 20 years of experience in IPSC

Belt - C/R (from Freedom Venture or me Double Tap Sports) the best belt on the market

Holster - for US matches (or IPSC)Blade Tack for IPSC rules Ghost, C/R (Ghost has the best locking system on the market)

Mag Pouches - Ghost or C/R (Ghost will fit any magazine on the market without modification..$$$ and time saved if shooting different pistols)
