I'm curious, for you folks that buy various types of holsters, when do you use them? Obviously we can't carry concealed or every day Cary, so what kind of holsters do you have and where do you use them? Strapping up while you walk around I your gitch at home? At the range? On your person in public without a pistol to tell others "Just so you know..."? For concealed carry (Shhh, stuff, this is just between us)? Other??

That's a pretty weak troll. 1/10

Sometimes when I'm not at the range I use mine to carry my ####, keeps it from dragging on the ground. I have very short legs.

I mostly use mine whenever the eff I want, if I didn't have one I couldn't use it, could I? Courses, matches and practise are all much more fun with a bucket, besides, if I put my pistol in a holster I don't have to leave it sitting on a table where some idiot with no clue (present company excepted, of course) could pick it up.

I mainly use them for IPSC practice, matches, and dry fire, but for just general range use it's better to have a holster than not. There is a lot less chance of sweeping someone if the gun is in the holster.

I will only address carry to protect life, others will address other reasons.

If you have a pistol, and are aware that criminal violence exists in Canada, you should be aware that you may someday “need” a pistol to defend the lives of those you love.

Should that time come, it would be remiss of you to not be equipped with the accessories you would require to successfully conduct that defence.

The government is wrong to make you wait until that time has come, before the process to obtain authorization to carry can proceed.

We can only work to repeal the requirement to demonstrate need, on that score.

But we can be prepared in every other way.

So, among other things, we obtain the best holsters for the purpose and the best training we can afford.

Then, we practice, practice, and practice some more.

Problem One is to survive the attack.

I am an action shooter involved in cowboy and IDPA like shooting so I wear mine a couple times a month at the range. I would say with a lot of experience it is about the safest place to keep your pistol on the range too. The only rule is you cant take it out unless the light is red or the buzzer sounds. Action shooting is a very enjoyable past time with a very broad demographic of participants and often a free hot lunch.

I should also add a .22 on the belt would be much handier than a rilfe in thick brush while hunting, but such is Canada…..

I think the REAL question is why don't you have a holster?
Some of us like to compete, some of us carry a gun for work, some of us are mall ninjas, some of us like to Larp around the house in our underpants while our wives reconsider their life choices. Basically you may need a different type of holster for each activity.
Frankly, you'd be remiss not to have a whole tub full of them.

There are ATC's to be had if you are in the right place. I have had one since 1978 . And although I just retired I still have mine.
