Holsters for more than one handgun

Small snag...one of my handguns is a shadow 2 and it seems the CR Speed holster for that is non-universal. Bummer, I thought I’d settled in that one.
 
Lets see you spend $600 to $1,500 on your guns and you want think you need a universal holster for range use for all of them.

Well if just carrying them around for range use where you are just shooting on a line why not just get a decent carrying case and call it good. If you are not going to play IPSC why look at a CR speed holster. I have seen so many shooters drop their expensive guns out of them to know they are not for everyone. Guys who struggle to make C class would shoot just as good out of a pouch holster by Soley Canadian or any of the other mainstream holsters and not have to worry.

If you decide to play IPSC or IDPA get yourself a decent pouch holster that works for IDPA and IPSC. If you have talent and want to put the time in to get really good look at some of the high end competition holsters if you go down the IPSC road. IDPA has different holster requirements which are met using a standard pouch holster.

The Uncle Mike holsters work OK. Unless the belt attachment has changed I can say from personal use they don't last. Mine saw the back rubber/polymer attachment break off after a couple of years of range use.

False.

The holster that I linked you to will most definitely fit the CZ Shadow 2.

They do also make one specifically set-up for the Shadow 2.
But that's not the one you're after.

This is confusing. So the Cr Speed Universal is fine for the Shadow 2? Why do they sell a separate Shadow 2 specific model?

Because it's such a ridiculously popular gun for IPSC Production Division.

Many competitors don't care about switching their holster to fit different guns.
They just want to shoot their Shadow 2 exclusively.

For that person; It makes more sense to get the non-universal holster.
 
Glock makes a Sport Holster of a rubbery material. It will fit just about any pistol very well. It can be worn left or right.

They make it in 2 sizes. Small is for 9mm and 40. Large is for 45s.

I pack one in my range bag in case I forget to bring the right holster - or in case someone else needs a holster.

They are cheap, too. I paid $15USD for them.

Where did you get yours from? I tried the Glock Store but their purchasing software dows not indicate Canada as a country they ship to.

For ~$60, Safariland GLS all the way. Great for 3 gun because of the easy to use retention, and I've used mine for Glocks, CZ Shadow, 1911, and more. I wish I had bought it before I got my other holsters. I've run mine in IPSC as well, but the retention is not required for that game.

 
If you are talking for competition, then the DAA Alpha X is the way to go. It can change from one gun to another in less than a minute just by changing the inserts (sold separately for each model of gun they support). The inserts are clearly marked so you don't mix them up. When you switch inserts, you don't lose any other adjustment of your holder like rake and cant. Also, you can remove the holster body from the belt with two screws which is amazing for travel so your holster doesn't get beaten up in the luggage and then reattach it without losing any adjustments. When locked, you can shake the holster upside down and it will not fall out. The holster is extremely fast to draw from and is adjusted with one ball joint. There are numerous options you can get like muzzle supports and thigh pads to suit your needs.

Thanks RAKS I have been looking for this GD holster now for five Fnnn years.Never knew the name of the make. Ordered. Works for a decent range holster...not so much for IDPA but it is legal. Now if I can just remember to bring my guns along when I go to the range to shoot.....
