How many GunNutz who attended the Calgary gun show stopped by the Holt's auctioneers booth? They were there doing evaluations of guns and promoting their business. They were equipped with bore and wall thickness measuring equipment - if I had known they were going to be there I would have brought down a couple of barrels to measure. At the display was a recently restocked Purdey with some of the most unusual walnut I have ever seen, with a "birds eye" pattern to it.

The best part was they were giving away copies of their auction catalogue from the March sale. This is a 250 page catalogue on high quality glossy paper, with full page colour photos of the most amazing array of arms you have ever seen. Gun #### at its finest. One (6 double rifles) set, chambered and engraved for each huntable continent (.470 NE for Africa, engraved with elephant, 7X64 for Europe, engraved with stag, etc.) sold for GBP 380,000 ($767,041.00 CDN) before buyer's premium and taxes! I would advise the purchaser to have a seventh one built in .22 hornet, and engraved with penguins.

I applaud the people from Holt's for making the trip to Calgary, and hope they make it a regular stop. It adds an international touch to the show, and the free barrel measuring service (and estimating) are very useful additions. Did anyone else check out the booth?
