HOLY CRABCAKES!! .308 Mi rifles at Marstar!!

Could be from the same high school shop class!

If these rifles are made or assembled in China...well, the fecal deposit will truly hit the rotary ventilator device. But it really doesn't look that way.

I've never understood how badly indexed barrels make it out of the factory. I can understand the index being off by a just-barely-noticeable few degrees...but when you can simply look over the sights and see something seriously wrong, I don't know how it can go uncorrected. I think the people making the Norinco guns just have no idea what a quality rifle should be like....unless it's an AK, perhaps. Those people may make guns, but they aren't shooters.

Fulton Armory will have match grade barrels and parts that are widely available. If your looking at this platform would highly recommend getting one from then instead of these surplus models.

thanks for the reply. i've noticed "garand guy" in the states sells refurbs for quite a bit less. i imagine partswise that is a good option? i'm kind of partial to the .308 models of the garand.

If you have a lot of money in a US dollar account :) Cheapest M1 on his web site that I saw was for US$1195, which translates into about CAD$1570. That's before shipping, duties and any fees...assuming that Garand Guy has his licence to export (I didn't probe the web site enough to find out).

That said, he's got some very nice stuff on his web site. If I had a pile of stupid money I think I'd be picking up half a dozen rifles without breaking a sweat.

Just needs to go thru IRG or PR. They have the FFL contacts for export.

im still surprised why that thread hasnt been stickied so any owners can see what is wrong with their rifles... CGN mods should know better. owners are in danger from these rifles and they lock the thread/discussion of it.

expensive price to pay to hear that TING sound

Its not really if they were what they were said to be.
The Garand is not some commie lowwest denominator bolt gun, it is the leader of an evolution in warfare. How is it that people pay 3K for a used Swiss Arms that will be outperformed by a 80 year old design?
Its not about the ping...its about performance and provenance, which the rifles in question have neither.

There are a couple other threads about these rifles where they were confirmed to be cheaply assembled reproductions and unsafe to shoot. The backlash from it apears to have caused marstar and John to leave the site. At least one of the threads should be stickied for public safety.

Wow, I was going to purchase one but was just headed out for holidays (was off grid for a little bit and just got on CGN), not sure the whole story yet but all I can say is WHEW!

it was a very long and intersting read about that company and those 'rifles', 110 pages i think it was, i use that term loosely as most owners aren't firing them from what i hear, glorified paperweights, which sucks, cause they are sharp looking rifles
