Holy crap! New bullet from Nosler.

Will be interesting to see how it fairs against the traditional solid.
The solid, is supposed to be basically unaltered when recovered from game. Except for rifling engraved on it's sides.
Hard lead slugs have also worked well, when tough enough for equal performance. Professional hunters will have a hard time excepting ANY mushrooming bullet for dangerous game.
Nosler will have known that, and worked with it, they are not stupid, so only time will tell how well it works, and how it's excepted.

Nosler is marketing these for African dangerous game.

Barnes has .458 TSX's, and they're relatively well accepted in the DG hunting community. They don't compete directly with solids, as not all 458 applications require a solid.

MSRP for 25 is $99.95 !!!!.

Gag, gag, sputter, gag, gag... What the H.E.DOUBLE Hockey Sticks... Are they friggen retarted? I wouldn't spend that kinda coin on a projectile!!! They must be "heat seeking" or GPS guided!!!

Mother of God!!! Is Nosler smoking something???

Cheers

Prices of all bullets have risen. Obviously you have never workrd with large calibres! I hate to think what a box of 25 505 Gibbs bullets would be now! I was used to working with $10.00 a cartridge, reloaded!

Holy crup, Any 505 gibbs was on my list of things to get, course I wouldn't expect to be plinking with it, and really, its cheap entertainment, considering the cost of something like dinner and a movie now-a-days, I can go shooting all day for that price.

Not that I have any pressing Cape Buffalo issues in my parts, but I wonder how the new Partition will compare with the Barnes X .458 offerings? Wholesale lists the 350 and 500 gr X's for under $30.00 for a 20 pack. Maybe Nosler is trying to play catch up, they recently announced their E-tip copper bullet. I guess Barnes is gaining on them in the marketplace. I used to reload partitions in my hunting rounds, now TSXes, if I can get them accurate in my rifles. So far I have been very happy with the Barnes TSX.

Go for it and get one! just be aware of the issues with bullets and brass! Expensive just doses cover it! If I ever get my bank balance back up I will get more big bore rifles!!:D

The Noslers at $ 100 / 25 .... seems reasonable. The same sort of thing from Speer, 458 cal. Trophy Bonded Bearclaws, are $ 118 / 25.

Check out the price, per box, of factory loaded ammo (with premium bullets) for dangerous game calibers like the .416 Rigby, .458 Win Mag, .458 Lott, .460 Weatherby or .470 N.E. ! At $ 10 - $ 15 per cartridge, they do get a little pricey ... but then again , they're not for "plinking" a couple of boxes away at the home Club every trip[ to the range.

Just paid $60 for a box (20) of .510 round nose bullets for my 500 a-square

Nosler will have to come closer to Barnes's price to be competitive, and even then it is unlikely that the Partition will perform as well. Cape buff aren't deer or sheep, and blowing away the front core section of the bullet for a large wound cavity then expecting the rear section to penetrate deep enough to exit so you have a good blood trail to follow is probably optimistic on this particular animal. Time will tell how successful they are, but even the 570 gr .510" X bullet (which retained much of it's original weight) I killed mine with didn't exit although it was a quartering shot. Buffalo are about the biggest dangerous game animal that would commonly be killed with an expanding bullet, but I bet the new .458 partition would be better used on large plains game like eland and zebra or perhaps as a lion bullet.
